  • Blood pressure borderline

I know that 120/80 is normal, mine currently is 143/89 - doc tells me today that I am borderline but not requiring treatment.

So how do you get it down?
    - stop looking at slugs munching ya crops?
    - stop reading the weather forecast?
    - stop looking at pictures of Cap't Jack?
    - sit quietly and say ohm a lot?

Make sure you're not in pain - that can send it upwards.

Try to take regular cardio exercise (your soon to arrive cross trainer)

Mine was quite high for a bit - but doc said much the same as you, just keep doing what I'm doing and monitor it - go back and have it checked every once in a while (although I can't remember how often he said)

I am currently in the same situation, and have been threatened with the pills again,i have been seeing a dr or nurse about once a fortnight, the best way for me i find is,when you get to the grrrrr, what am i doing stage,STOP,make yourself a drink and sit down, read,a long soak in the bath spending some YOU time, look over the grapevine, telly,go for a walk looking at nature as you go,your choice,do something, different, what ever takes your fancy,as long as it changes the way you feel, relaxing it'nt always about sitting down and think of naw't,that doe's drive me nuts,is often more benefitial to do something completly different.

The usual boring stuff: eat less salt, drink less alcohol, eat more veg, do more exercise. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

I just took it again as I have the same monitor here that they use in Docs surgery - it was 112/77, that's good isn't it - erm I think

I clearly have White Coat Syndrome

Mistletoe and hawthorn tablets from a reliable herbalist. They will work out the right dosage for you.(I dare say you can google one in your area)

Poor, poor Piskie. You know, what you need is a Mediterranean diet. A couple of months in the South of France should do it for you - failing that, a coupla days in the middle might help

Mmm White coat syndrome, very common. 112/77 is jolly good. Text book is 120/80 but it is expected to go up as one gets older. You can control Bp by maintaining a healthy weight, limiting salt, exercising, reducing your bad cholesterol. The magic food choices are lots of fresh fruit and veg! Especially garlic, apples, legumes, dried apricots, potatos, black currants, parsley, green leafy veg and oats!
