hi grapes, my eldest daughter has come home with her home work she is doing about how we lived just after the war.
has any body got any links to any good websites about the 1940's,music,fashion,food
she has tried looking on t'web but cant seem to find any thing
any help is gladly welcome

Agreed on the ease of homework with the internet. Mind you, I don't encourage ours to use it as much as books unless we can't find a book to help.

As to the jukebox queen title (thank you soo much but they are really Madmax's territory) we can help when it comes to artists and music of the '50s but not much help otherwise.

I've got a wartime recipe book that my bro gave me for Christmas, I could photocopy some pages from it and send them to you if you like.
If my memory of school project work serves me correct, rationing was still about until the late 40's wasn't it?

Right, that's enough help already. Half the point of homework/research is being able to find the information for yourself

Well yes, but parents are supposed to give help and support, so asking questions and then the child following up in the info given seems OK to me. I wouldn't object to my students doing that, better than nothing at all, which a lot of us teachers battle with. It's good to see a parent who wants to help.
