  • The great Irish bank holiday weather.

Just can't believe we have had such a glorious bank holiday weekend weatherwise. The sun shone from Friday right through till thid morning with totally blue skies and plants crying out to be watered.
My toms, cucs and peppers are thriving in this great weather. Piched my first strawberries today. Can't believe the difference between this time last year and this year. long may it last.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I know - and today (a working day) the plants all get a good drenching! It's not often that the weather works well over here, but when it does, it's brilliant!

We harvested our first broad beans, peas and mangetout over the weekend. And I had to take another handful of mangetout this morning they are growing so fast! So I brought them in my lunchbox for my salad.

We even emptied the sand out of the toddler's hippopotamus into a big bucket and filled the creature with water - which she loved - it was so hot.

What are the chances of it staying nice - or was that our summer??!!

Glad you had a great weekend Bramble. Good to see you there - don't see you too much on the Vine, but there are so many posts now maybe I just miss them.
We've had wonderful weather for the whole of May here - very different from the winter weather we had in May last year. Hope your growing is going great.

I love to see your posts on The Vine from Ireland, and I hope your weather-forecasters are getting it 'more right' for you than they are for us !
Trousers and I, being in The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, are almost in a Bermuda Triangle, in that we're betwix and between a number of major rivers and valleys, and all forecasts seem to be at least a day ahead or a day behind of our real forecast, which for me, as a gardener, is completely and utterly unhelpful - to say the least!
