Hello all, maybe I'm starting to panic? School gardening competition is less than 4 weeks away (28th/29th June.) The vegs and herbs we planted are growing fantastically, unfortunately the other weekend my greenhouse blew down and landed on top of most of the flowers we had sown. I have managed to rescue a few, but they are looking a bit sorry for themselves and I am worried we won't have any flowers. French marigolds are just starting to show their flower heads, the Calendula are not. The rest weren't worth saving including the Tumbling Toms planned for the hanging baskets. We are including wildflowers from the school garden but I need more colour. Help me please!!!!!

Although not a great flower grower, why not pop into your local garden center and see what annual plants they have. This time of year they will be trying to clear their stocks so you could pick up a bargain. The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

What about miracle grow? It looks good on the tv, but not sure if it is as good as it promises as haven't used it

ok if your not allowed to buy plants how about asking asking around the neighbours or parents if they happen to have spare plants surely that would be in the rules as some surely would of been sown from seed so its not really classed as cheating ?!?!?!?!?!

maybe get the chidren to make some daisy chains to drape around baskets\pots,also I know not particularly colourfull but how about adding some veg foliage for added interest?carrot topsetc?also would it be against the rules to make radish flowers?can't remember how its done but if it would help sure i could find instructions somewhere.Good Luck & hopefully the judges will be understanding about greenhouse & allow for a few tweeks to the rules?!the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

is it an internal comp & you doing your garden,or is it the whole school against other local schools & you're doing the school garden? you've probably used but if you havent c.d's make effective hangings.the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
