There's 102 plots on our site, and apparently all taken (only site in the local authority area). There are a few unloved ones alright, but most are showing at least SOME sign of use in the past couple of months. (And considering how we only tackled half of ours last year, I reckon any bit of action is fine).

Just before the annual divvy-out of new plots, there were 151 on the waiting list. I reckon that there were probably maybe 20-30 max of those who got plots.

According to my council's website figures here from February, quick sums show there are a total of 25 sites, with 1103 plots and 857 on various waiting lists!!!!

When I got my plot 2 years ago there was plenty of space on my site but in theory mine is now full and has 35 on a waiting list, but I simply cannot believe that all of the plots are under 'cultivation'!

dont know for sure how many but i'd say ther's at least space for 15 plots under the overgrowth of brambles & such?mad thing is theres a "trendier"site just down the road with a fairly long waiting list!!?

Ours is a small private site in the village and has 12 plots, all taken. The last to be let this spring is the one which I share. The waiting list now only consists of me waiting for another half!

There are somewhere between forty and fifty on our site, no-one is entirely sure how many as numbers 1-12 have been lost to developers (years ago though, just after WWII) and some of those numbered in the sixties went too. Then a community group took the high fifties and mid-seventies. It must be a nightmare for whoever has to send out the bills. Of the 40-50 left one is vacant (yesterday I'd have said 2, but last night a miracle occurred and a young family were hacking at a plot that to my knowledge has been vacant for 12 years, possibly longer). We have a waiting list of around 15 last I heard, with none of those on it prepared to take on the vacant plot as it's considered too much like hard work. But who knows, now the other one's gone perhaps this final one will too.

There are about 11 plots vacant on a site within 30 minutes walk from me.

There are at least 20 unused bits of field on our site that could be converted to plots and there are a few let plots which probably need a new tennant. I bet next year a lot more come available as people leave due to the floods.

I have two plots, and both sites are full (although not all plots are properly cultivated, some are a bit half-hearted.) No idea about waiting lists.

our council provide about 50-60 plots over 2 sites all are taken and im about no 14 on the waiting list only 2 got given up this year and 1 the year before so got a long wait, mainly old people thats got them around here and all seem similar age so when they become too frail it will be all together and half a site available if so il ask for 2 plots.

i checked this yesterday and all sites in the area are full, except our local one, i'm now debating whether i have enough energy for a whole allotment ....... the ones that are full mostly allow chickens, which i quite fancy, the local one doesn't

well our site is really badly neglected but there are 3 or 4 plots that have yet to be touched. my other half Storm has recently become chair of our lottie association because the previous bloke didn't want to do it anymore so has to make a decision as to what to do with these untouched plots. We already have a waiting list of 7 people so its going to be tough for some people.

Just feed them the b*llsh*t about blank canvas and all that! Being able to make there mark works well also! I'm sure that if they are truly wanting a plot they will jump at the opportunity!

10 waiting all plots taken, I wanted to go on the list for a second plot and become a member of the two plot brigade, but our council secretary said due to demand that this will not happen for the forseeable future.

I am now looking to see if there is somewhere on the site that I could squeeze a plot out of, under the muck pile seems most promising to me.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
