good luck. I'm not sure whether I would have ended throwing a screaming hissy fit or bursting into tears if I'd got myself all psyched up and then nothing.

Eskymo, I won't be around next week, heading for Cornwall, but best wishes for Monday. I'm sure you will do it and I'll see how you go on when I come back.

Eskymo, one thing you have to remember, with the driving test, 'good drivers never pass first time.'

I would have to say, I made a mistake early on in my second test (I think the rear tyre mounted the pavement as I took a left turn). I thought bugger it failed again!!

I then drove round, relaxed, expecting to fail, and blow me I PASSED.

The only advice I can give is RELAX. What you have got to do is prove to the examiner that you are in full control of the car!!

When you get in the car Monday morning, you have to ask youself - would the world end if I didn't pass this test? The answer has got to be no.

Treat the test as any driving lesson. All you have got to do is show that you are 'in full control'.

Fingers crossed. and best of luck.

C'mon gel - you know you can do it. Just show em.

Thanks for all your lovely comments. I am amazingly calm about the whole thing. Just come back from a practice drive and think I did really well. Been practicing my corners and doing them a lot tighter now than I did them before and also very aware of watching my speed.

If I fail i will be dissappointed - but this is mostly down to the very long waiting list as then I will have to wait until septemebr to do the test again and my OH will not be pleased.

I'm sure I'm going to pass though, so don't need to worry about that. I know what happens on the test now, so my nerves about it have gone out of the window and I've improved on the two things I failed on last time, so I should breeze it.

Just got to get a good nights sleep and not worry about it.

                Thanks.

Sorry to let you all down - but I failed again - the examiner said I went into the wrong lane on a roundabout at the start of the test, which I don't believe I did. Maybe I'm just not destined to drive.

Oh Eskimo what a shame! I am so sorry to hear your bad news! Maybe you better try another borough and see if their inspector has got his glasses on! Or can't you do that in this country?

I think I'm going to have to fork out for the next test as well as pay to get an instructor and do the test in their car as my OH is fed of me taking up all his time with practicing and borrowing his car for the test etc. I learnt in Edinburgh with an instructor as driving around the countryside here wasn't teaching me enough, but as I could practice on the test routes at home in my own car more often than in edinburgh it made sense to do the test in my own car here...

Looks like we're not going on holiday this year as I'm going to have to find another £200 from somewhere and also won't be able to know the date of my test as I'll be checking for cancellations everyday for the next month.

Not sure who to contact with regards to driving instructors and not sure how a new instrcutor will be like with an experienced driver [been driving for over a year now] who keeps on cocking up on her tests. The thought of having to relearn how to do manouvers in a small car just seems like a complete waste of time to me [we've got a SAAB].

What bad luck Eskymo....sorry to hear it wasn't good news again.

I failed my driving test the first time so I know what it feels like. However, don't give up, you will pass next time! Think positive and things will come good.

My only advice is to try and have your test first thing in the morning. Hopefully the examiner will be feeling fresh and happy!!!!

Sorry to hear the news Eskymo.

If it is any consolation, a driving instructor friend of mine says the examiners never pass people who take the test in their own car. Something to do with the driver having the mirrors set so they can see in them easily (as we all do when we have our own car) and the examiner can't see you checking the mirrors. I remember my instructor knocking all the mirrors slightly askew before I took my test and when I asked why he said it was so I had to move my head to check and the examiner would see. Friend who is an instructor also said that if you can, get a late test on a Friday, examiner doesn't want to go to the trouble of completing a fail sheet!!

Best of luck for the next one - just ask for the next cancellation instead of waiting all that time!
