Just been to inspect our garden and the only damage was the pea/bean tripod - so have put that back up again. Whilst doing so I found a more than average swollen pea and yes; picked it and we had 3 each. So it is no officially summer [it's officially summer in our house when we have our first pea in the garden].

Blowing a gale all day! Went to lottie at 8am for a couple of hours, then came back home and did a bit of work for neighbour in her garden (Dexter's Aunty Margaret) wanted to work in my new back garden - ie dig in the mushroom compost that is currently pervading the local area with its refreshing aroma - no chance! fell asleep! and it was too windy! LOL! BernieBernie aka DDL

Morning all - we had foul weather all weekend. It lashed rain all day saturday apart from about an hour in late afternoon. The toddler and I got soaked coming home from swimming!!
Then yesterday we had lots of rain, accompanied by very high winds. Great weather to drive to Belfast - not. (Trip to IKEA, and then fill the few nooks and crannies left with sainsbury's goodies!!). When we got home, we found my sunflowers almost horizontal in their tub (caned and tied in last night before bed for their own safety), the mini greenhouse was totally destroyed (the hanging basket fell out of the wall onto it on Firday - this was removed but the plastic cover is torn all over and one of the roof support bars was totally knocked over by the wind), and the satellite dish has been swung off it's bracket.
I did manage to get to the plot for an hour and a half on saturday - I only took my handfork and a knife, as the weather was so bad that I was only going harvesting. But I did manage in the end to weed the onion bed as well as the rain stopped for a short period. But it was raining again by the time I leftAt least I managed a decent enough haul to feed the IL's for the weekend.

by Marb67I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
