We were not due back this side of the channel after two cracking weeks in France till after 9pm but with the French bring, well French, our port of departure was blockaded by fishermen.

A swift call to eurotunnel by our sister had a ticket organised (even if the price made my eyes water) and we are now home and unloaded hours earlier than planed.

So early in fact that the jolly roger flag is up ready for my 40th on Saturday and a bottle of 2005 Brane-Cantenac half gone.

Missed you all and will catch up over the next few days.

Channel Tunnel is the only way to travel for us, other than flying, takes a real catasrophe to close it, easy to drive on/off and lots of latitude if you're early or late.

OK, costs a bit more but it's the certainty that matters to us!

I agree, we always travel under the Tunnel or fly, mainly because KK doesn't cope on the ferry when it's choppy and it's quicker for us too.

I would loved to have dropped in on you Tony, and indeed Scarey but we were a fre hundred miles north.

Tony, Scarey, were off to a place in Puilaurens (between Quillan and Perpignan) in August for a week before wending our way up to St Briac sur Mer in Brittany for the second week. We need any reccomendations for clean and not overly expensive accomodation near Bordeaux for a couple of nights.

If you have any web sites or addresses I would be most grateful. Also Tony as your in the wine region, can you point me at some good reds for laying down and drinking now in your local area. Hopefully we can meet up for lunch!
