This morning I was woken by my DD, giving me a kiss on my nose, ah lovely innit!

Anyway, as I was up at the crack of dawn I decided to get outside and make the most of it being dry and mow the lawn. Ok, so its about 7.45am at this point, my neighbour came out and gave me the filthiest looks. Get a life!!, I don't have an infinate amount of time in a day to achieve these things, they have to be done when there are two of us in the house. That way there is always someone to look over our DD. So is it me, or do others do this.

Hmmm, well if the neighbour was up enough to come out & give you a filthy look, I wouldn't worry too much. If they were giving you filthy looks out of the bedroom window, then perhaps that isn't so good?
I'd be P-ed off if our neighbour started mowing the lawn before 8am - my kids are finally old enough that I can have a bit of a lie-in at the weekend, and I think I deserve it after 14 years of getting up at the crack of dawn! No need to inflict it on other people, you could get the quiet, indoor jobs done first hey?

Well I should have said that OH was having a party for 8 kids today, while I'm in work, so no I couldn't have left it for later, I had a nagging OH in my ear.

you've got me feeling guilty now!granted it was 8:30 not 7:45 but my darlings have been playing (fighting)in the garden most of the a.m~like your OH I have a party to get sorted for & better they outside arguing than under my feet doing same!easy to forget when your up that others may still be sleeping~maybe take him a slice of cake round after the party~or get your daughter to!~who can stay cross when confronted by a little one bearing cake!?:

i love nothing better than a lie in, but i wouldnt have moaned, time is precious and i am sure that they will have more to complain about later with all the kids coming, far more noise than the sound of a lawn mower.

The thing is, you werent up at 6am doing it and you didnt have a party last night, so whats the deal!! mind you i am not a morning person (ask the kids and OH??) but i wouldnt have moaned at you, i am gonna cut my lawn today.

as they say "you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time"

hope the kids have a great party and there is a lot of noise so the miserable neighbout cant get back to sleep!!! lol

Having said that I had to go into 'town' today (Enfield) and every second car seemed to have it's own personal rave going on inside. Hubby and I quickly came to the conclusion that we are allergic to other people and their noise and should probably go and live on a deserted island or in a big field - providing nobody's around with a mower......

No, actually I'm only teasing, it wouldn't have worried me as I am an early riser and as I live with big 'ellllycopters buzzing around all day and all night (sometimes until 0100hrs!) I am now immune to noise ....WOT CAN'T 'EAR YA

I would never put the mower - or anything else on - before 9am at the earliest. Thankfully my neighbours show the same consideration.

My neighbours keep me awake till 3 in the morning sometimes so the mower gets started at 6.REVENGE!!

I'd have set my wife on you Mikeywills!! Personally I think that you were too early with the mower. I would prefer mowing after 10.00am and not later than 7.00 pm. (I believe that in Switzerland mowing is prohibited on a Sunday.)

And my own rant - children screaming up and down our road - and I do mean SCREAMING!! All the houses in our road have fairly large gardens but it seems that parents don't want their own peace disturbed so they send their children out to the front of the house where they can annoy the neighbours.

i mow early but i always forget that other people can hear!! as long as you don't do it all the time then what's the problem, tell them to get a life

just to make you feel better my OH went for a spin on his extremely loud classic bike this morning at 7.30am - but i didnt hear it so whatever ha ha ha !!

I can see your neighbours point of view I am afraid, mind you, my neighbour chops logs for his fire at 5.30, so we are used to getting woken at stupid o clock. Luckily, I can now turn over and sleep after it.

Oh, I know just what you mean. My neighbour's children are now old enough to go out with friends etc and we hardly ever see/hear them. Oh Bliss. We thought that this year we could enjoy some nice quiet evenings. But NO! We now have a completely new set of "young uns" from further along the road that choose to play football right out side our house even though there is a playing field at the end of the road!

oops - i think you may be my neighbour!!!! i moved in with 7 year old twins - and for the first time they can play outside!! mind you, i played out when i was a child and had FUN - didnt any of you??
