My father cooked in my household in Mississippi. He learned how to cook from his mother in Cuba before and after the revolution. My mum was a cajun from Louisiana who didn't cook anything but fatty foods, so I had to learn to cook from books and tv shows if I was ever going to eat proper anglo-saxon food at home. Now, my British hubby appreciates my effort. I've still never made lasagna tho'. Anybody got a good recipe? :-)

You guys are still proving my point though, whether the food was good or not, you actually watched them prepare food. So you can in effect cook, you learn through your own tastebuds what you like/dislike but you actually learn the mechanics of cooking from your parents predominantly.

As such you are capable of following a recipe, and understanding the mechanics of food, weighing, mixing, folding, boiling, simmering, etc.

Hey TonyF, have you seen just how much they shovel into their gobs on that programme, their parents should have taught them some manners.

Cutting open a bag and placing the contents in water/on oven tray can hardly be considered perparing food - mush the same as chicken nuggets and chips are considered today.

Know what you mean about John/Greg and their shovels though!

You know how to cut open the bag, and that you need to put it on a tray, as opposed to a plate, or a terrine?

            Your a mechanic boyo.

The only problem with delegation is that first you need to show them what to do, otherwise it just doesn't turn out quite how you hoped.

The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.
