It's a voluntary curfew isn't it, so are they really going to take any notice of being asked to get home before it?
I like the idea of punishing naughties by getting them to do things like rubbish clearance, road cleaning, allotment/park clearing, cleaning up vandalism etc, at least the community would gain something, even if the humiliation of being seen by your mates clearing up dog mess didn't deter reoffending...
Not being able to tell your own children off annoys me, the short sharp shock of a small smack works far better than 'the naughty step'... My daughter tells me it's illegal and she will phone the police! And she got that from the (ex) mother in law who doesn't believe in any telling off - she works in a school - and all her own children are/have been totally off the rails...
