This Bloomin' Wet July!

..... is a pain in the bum.

I work full time so very rarely get down the lottie during the week (except yesterday to pick peas, broadies and onions). Instead like a nutter I get up at around 5am Saturday and Sund, go down the lottie and keep going until 9am when I go home and start my day with My Shortie and the boys.

So, big plans for tomorrow of weeding, weeding, weeding and planting out the last of the brussel sprouts.

Not by the sounds of the rain lashing down on the windows I don't mind getting wet but it won't do the soil any good and it's a pain pulling weeds out of soaking soil

But on the positive side at last I've not had to worry about watering the plants down there

I do feel for the Grapes who are at work all week, and then their weekend's gardening is ruined by the weather. It makes me grateful that I'm able to dash down there whenever there's a bright spell during the week, especially as there's no way I'd be able to get up at 5am I'm sometimes just getting to sleep at that time!

My lottie is clayey; so the best time to weed is after a good downpour [sometimes during] as the soil is softer and releases the weeds and their roots much easier. Plus we don't have water there so things are going great guns at the moment.

Some sun at some point would be quite nice though.

You know what...........I don't think I've ever looked so WHITE in July! especially as I work and play outside all the time!

We all need to change our body clocks and veg patterns, summer starts in March and ends in April.

We had great weather here all spring and right to the end of June - But July - dull and wet. We all need some sunshine.

The really annoying thing is how the sky was blue and almost clear half an hour ago, so I decided today would be good for finally fixing the shed roof, quick cuppa tea and now it's solid cloud & rain. Bah!

We grew so far behind as it's been so cold and wet, and when OH did manage to get a day off from work it always rained. We're just about caught up now, but apart from the pumpkins, which seem to be loving it, everything is much later than usual this year. Last year we had a very wet summer, but it didn't seem to make much overall impact as things had raced ahead in a lovely warm spring. This year we just haven't had that luxury.

Read a report somewher on the net that summer was over now, they didn't reckon we are going to get significant periods of fine sunny weather. I hope they are wrong!

I just don't seem to have been able to get a decent amount of time in the garden in recent weeks due to the rain, the weeds are starting to take over!! Tonight however after dinner (about 7.45pm) the clouds vanished & a blue sky appeared - so i've been out there till 10pm when OH came out to inform me i now had to go insde as it was dark!! Got a fair bit done but there's just so much more to do!
