Saturday very chilled, little house jobs, playing with baby girl, then made a slooow pork belly thing in the evening which was lovely, nice wine etc. DH cut five long-stemmed red roses for the dining room, which look just wonderful. Sunday, big family gathering at Carsington Water just for picnic, walk, and seeing cousins etc. (only happens once every two years or so). All very nice in the sunshine. Drove back over the moors as the elderflowers are later there and found some lovely ones so put on what I suspect will be the last "brew" of the sparkly stuff.

Picked salad leaves to follow simple pasta last night. Best weekends for me are at home and in the garden (of course). I'm such a homebody!

Ours was pretty good. OH collected the toddler from creche, so I got to drive home direct!! Which also meant I had peace in the car, and I could talk to my sister who is coming home from abroad for good (well, more than a hols anyway - she has a new job) next week. (I do have handsfree!).

OH brought the toddler to M&S to buy dinner, and she told the checkout operator that each thing was for "me (apricots for car) that's for daddy (wine for dinner), that's for me (cheese), that's for me (strawberries), that's for daddy (takeaway style dinner)..." etc. She had her own when they arrived, and, as she was full of beans, she stayed up late and shared our Indian night in (loves spicy stuff!!).

On Saturday, the toddler and I went for a swim - which she ADORES, and bought the fish for Sunday lunch on the way home (great fishmonger in town). The toddler gave the order - "we want salmon, ...and mussels" - so we bought mussels as well for lunch with chips (OH cooked those while we came home). Then we went food shopping while OH went to the plot (I made him weed the onion bed as well as harvesting spuds and brocollI!!).

Yesterday, after a relatively late brekkie (toddler didn't wake until 8am, and I didn't hear either of them until just after 9 - oh bliss), OH and the toddler went to the office to drop a bag (OH had done some work on Sat and needed to drop it in by today, but couldn't cycle with that and the toddler!), and the payground. Meanwhile, I cleaned the house (well, swept and mopped the kitchen, and swept out the back garden), put out chairs in garden, laid table for lunch, and prepped it.

My grandparents, and 5 aunts and uncles arrived (late, but that is a well known family failing!) for lunch and we were able to sit outside in the sunshine before we ate. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon, and then, after they left, we were tidied up within an hour. OH went to visit an uncle in the local rehab (not drying out type - those brain injured or amputees etc, he lost his lower legs years ago from polio and gets annual visits for intensive therapy) and we were able to relax together watching Top Gear.

And we only had a couple of "accidents" to deal with all weekend - lots of stars and cheers, and the washing machine wasn't half as busy as last weekend!! Between that, and the general good behaviour when the visitors were there, I had a very proud mammy weekend!!

Mine consisted of lorries, tractors and steam engines. We were exhibiting at Ardingly Vintage vehicle/Steam show, so took all the toys down there on Friday (yours truly was entrusted with a 1940something David Brown and other half's beloved transit to tow with). Drank cider on Fri eve and slept so soundly in the transit, I didn't even hear OH get up for a pee (side-loaders on transits are ruddy noisy, normally!). Saturday eve we went back home to tend the animals and ate out, being given such big portions I had to get a doggy bag - never done that before! Sunday was back at Ardingly, where OH bought me a Dinky fire engine - it's yellow, so goes nicely with my other, red one! Lost out on an antique microscope. Was umming and ahhing too much and someone else bought it in the end. Boo hiss! We took all the toys back home (towing with L200 this time, much easier!) and after a brief rest, prepared the kitchen for the plasterer coming in today. Oh and watered the garden a LOT, after neglecting it on Saturday!

BAck into work for a rest, today. Had to go to bed at 10:30 last night and slept right through to 7am!

My OH has bee away working in Cornwall, he arrived back Saturday night and was waiting with a meal when I arrived back from work. Had a lovely late breakfast on Sunday, our own [fist] eggs poaced and then went to Blickling Hall near Norwich [nice, never been before] to an open air concert by Meatloaf GREAT! Back to reality to day as he was back off to Cornwall till Wednesday & I am back to my sewing. Nice though we even managed to stay dry
