  • Autumn feel

    Sorry but....

When opening the back door the last few mornings it has felt and smelt very autumnal.... that slight chill, that slight damp smell.... I hope it's just a glitch as we have not even had summer yet.
Even the birds are singing autumn songs.
Scabious are out in the hedgerows....rowan berries are orange....

...and my apples are looking far too big for the time of year! Conkers are looking pretty big, too! As long as Autumn is long, I don't mind too much. I love swishing the Autumn leaves around out in the countryside!

Normally I can start to smell autumn in August, but your right, the signs are starting to show already.

PS I'm glad someone else can 'smell' autumn Headfry, my OH thinks I'm mad

Nope, I smelled (?) it too yesterday - especially walking along the path next to the house. The ground has that autumnal look and feel to it under all the trees too.

          Autumnal

I was up and in the garden early this morning and i thought about it too.

I thought it was because my plum tree has every plum disease going and is loosing its leaves, but there is that 'hint' in the air.... sort of damp/fungi-ness.

Also as my tomatoes are really slow to fruit, i have now shut up the greenhouse to warm them up.

Many little toadstools in the grass that surrounds my plot.

Pumpkin Beckie- I am glad I am not the only one who smells the seasons, everyone thinks I am mad, maybe I am - the sky IS pink in my little world, I like pink!

I smelled something yesterday, but I think it was whatever the farmer was spreading as opposed to Autumn.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

My sense of smell seems to be very acute at the moment! One of the dudes in the office forgot to use deodorant this morning me thinks!

I keep waiting for the "hordes" of courgetttes I have been promised (4 plants - should get 2 reasonable courgettes later this week from one, nothing from the other 3 yet). Please don't tell me that won't happen!!!

I only planted three plants this year on account of having too many courgettes from five plants last year....

                          One courgette so far.

The first one or two can be a bit slow to come, but once they start producing you'll have them coming out of your ears!

Sorry that was badly written at the end (I knew what I meant to say, but it didn't come out that way). I am waiting anxiously for these hordes, as we LOVE courgettes in our house!!
