Wisley is great!
maybe we should set a date for meeting up at Wisley?
Sorry but cant re type whole post again, went through Wisley area by area!
I HATE COMPUTERS!
I am a member of the RHS so lucky me. We, Mr HF and I get in for free!!!! yes - FREE!
and, we also BOTH get the pruning course for half price!
Wisley is a fab place, they have a working veg plot with resident cat!!! awwww
great book shop
fantastic library
brilliant 'help with bugs etc service'- free for members
the staff are great.
They run great courses
cafe is yummy
restaurant is super yummy, hope they have the pea and mint soup on the menu again!
grounds beautiful
Apline house beautiful
glass house, good - just not my thing, bit like a giant conservatory
plant center - not really very good, considering it IS Wisley
We go about 4-5 times a year now, well worth being a member.
big thumbs up to Wisley.....my birthday treat was a trip there and lunch in the posh - silver service restaurant .... it was sooo nice.
Also, The flower and Autumn shows are really good, not huge - not too busy either the shows are really well done, with lots of interesting things.
Went to an Auricular day there in late spring, lecture was intersting and they had some lovely plants, even some for sale!
I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
