  • Im trying to buy....

Im trying to buy one of those seed sorters, you know the type where you put all your pack of seeds in the months that they should be sown.
Ive seen them in gardens centres in the beginning of the year but not seen any since, ive tried ebay with with no luck, but that could be as im not sure of what they are oficially called, has anyone got any ideas??

Depending on how many you've got how about using one of those cardboard cd holders & make your own dividers?

For me it's a shoe box or a biscuit tin!

You can do it that way Blue. But I organise all mine then I take them out and play with them - and play with them again and again. Now I just keep them in a lock - n - lock box and play with them to my hearts content. You can see how long you can keep yours organised before you start playing with them.
Somewhere in the back of my head I know what's going on and manage to dig out the seeds.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

In honesty mine are in a rather shabby carrier bag~the rest dotted around the house~was just playing at being organised earlier!

glad it's not just me then .... i got a little box from the pound shop with a handle and a clip on lid ..... just seed packet sized ....... i think i need a couple more though, one for things still needing to sow, one for things next year, and one for things that don't need sowing unless the ones that are growing don't perenialise or sow themselves lol ...... i really want to put them in the cupboard, but i'd keep getting them out anyway lol

I bought my father-in-law a case of wine at Christmas, it arrived in a wooden box - here t'is: Château Méaume Wooden-boxed 6 bottle Gift Pack 6 x 75cl Bottles - SixBottleWineGifts - Majestic Wine

Anyway, once he'd taken the bottles out he gave me the box back. It has 6 "compartments" which I intend to turn into seed packet recepticles. It has a lid and everyfing!

Plus you get wine thrown in!!

I've commendeered a card organiser off the missus, as it has months as dividers, I put the seeds in the relevant month for sowing, or when it can start sowing.

                  I'm not that organised normally.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I use a 12-pocket divider thingy from any good stationery store.
Mark the pockets into months of the year (two for March, none for December) and off you go.

Like Mikeywills I use an old card index box with the dividers marked with the months. When I've finished sowing for that month (ie successional) I move the seed packet to the month behind. That way it reminds me the following month that I need to sow them again. You can use the back of the index card for tips and hints for next time too.

I like the idea of the index cards, i have a box that i store them in but i wanted to be more organised and be prepared for next year. thats a good idea to put hints and tips on the back of the cards too.
                          Thanks guys
next year i will be more prepared and hopefully my 2nd year of veg growing will be more than the just basics.
