There was a piece on him in the Mail recently telling of the unhappy and scary event of the stroke etc.
So far as is possible to tell - he continues to make steady progress.
I'd love to see him doing a special slot from time to time on GW again - without the time constraints of tv deadlines.
I really miss his gentle and knowlegeable style. In the meantime I hope Carol gets the top presenter role - with Alys being groomed for the future. Joe can be left to become more comfortable on his new allotment - then report back....in about 50 yrs - or is that too soon!?
Monty - if you are a secret lurker here! - good health and continued recovery.
He may have 'seemed' like a healthy man but he suffered with something quite nasty when he returned from his round the world in 80 gardens trip. I think he was laid up for about 6 months - and this was before the stroke.
He has also suffered for many years with terrible depression and gardening became his therapy and eventually his trade.
Lovely clip thanks, thing is who can take over from him?
There are many who could, but he as had the past presenters, a softness to him, a feeling of 'at peace' no rush, no panic, just calm, and soft....please come back Monty!
