Oh b*%%$$ , I just can't do it! I want to post some piccies in my thread and 'it' keeps telling me the file is too large.... don't know what to do, please help
I know how to post a pic. But if I didn't I tried to follow your instuctions Valmarg.I'm no more stupid than anybody else but it defeated me. As do the other instructions that get posted on here - in 2 lines.
This question comes up so often. I'm going to post an idiots guide. It may not be the most elegant solution - but it works.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
You need to resize your image. You need an image editing software, have you got one? If not there are free programs available for download. Try Adobe photoshop.
When I tried to put my bee pics on here, after much trouble I DID IT!!!!
yeep all I got was pics the size of a postage stamp....
Never attempted it since- just made me mad!
how do peeps here post pics that you can actually see????
If you click on the paper clip above the reply box, another window appears and lists the file types you can attach and provides the pixel height and width for each. Most image files these days are .jpg format which this forum allows to be 97.7 kb in size. You need to experiment with the resize to find out what pixel height and width will give you this file size with your images; the image below is around 450x338 pixels to give a 96kb file size; the image shown in the thread is only a thumbnail but clicking on it will give the full size in a new window.
how to use.
Upload your photo (from your computer).
Your photo appears large.
Click on resize.
I resize my photos by 75%
Click on Save.
rename your new photo (I use original title, followed by 'mini')
you can then use those new small photos to post on here.
the new attachment thingy works well, when you write a post, click on manage attachments and find the pic on your computer, then press upload ...... all the piccies i've put on are straight off my camera with no editing ...... if you want to edit, i use Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket they have basic editing software on there, and it even gives you the img tag, so you can just copy and paste it into your post.
I use this at work. Load up the original pic then from the menu Picture | Compress Picture. It gives a number of options for compressing. I use the compress for web pages. Click OK then save the file..
