  • Baseball caps

I have never worn one in my life and I'm not about to start now.

We have a major event going on in our town this weekend. We had the Army Cadet Corps arranged to do the marshalling. All this has been going on for 2 years. Our nanny district council left it until last week to tell us we couldn't use the cadets to do the marshalling.

Town Council members dragooned into filling the empty spaces. Sooooo, instead of swanning around as TC members we are now, manning the gates, the carparks, the directions. The "uniform" is a hi-viz vest and matching yellow baseball cap. I will wear the vest, but not a cat in hells chance will I ever wear a baseball cap.

I am of "Traditional" build, and would look like Tweety Pie.

Get with it JanieB and wear it sideways!

I put one on backwards if I have any welding to do..........it stops the sparks going down my neck!

We have a gang of OAP's that go around our town, with baseball caps turned backwards driving their motorised buggies with the hoods up!! Its the funniest things I have ever seen in my life, they're dead wicked, booyarkashar.!!
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Why can't the Cadets do the marshalling? What ridiculous reason have they come up with for that??
I think if they want you to do the job, they can't complain about you not wearing the hat

I have a selection of baseball caps for when I put the lid down on Flossie - they keep the sun and my hair out of my eyes. As squashysue says they are brill for can't be bothered with my hair days, but know what you all mean about some folks not suiting them at all. Madmax looks hilarious if he wears one and it usually gets chucked away in disgust after a very short time.

I have a navy one with the Wurlitzer log on (apparently quite rare), a burgundy NASA one and an olive green one bought at a Tina Turner concert.

Well Janie, I reckon there are 2 kinds of people in the world. Those who would wear a baseball cap, and those who wouldn't dream of it. Put the blinkin thing in your pocket and do what you have to do. Good luck.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

How can you trust anyone who doesn't which way round a hat goes?
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

OK. Got away with not wearing the hat. I wasn't the only one who objected. Not only because we don't like baseball caps but also because we can't fit them over our normal hairstyles (in this case it includes a rastafarian). He tied his to the top of his hi viz vest, so I did the same.

It was an absolutely brilliant do. Sealed Knot, Battle for Faringdon. Marmaduke Rawdon won again!! . He was Royalist and I suppose I should support Cromwell since I'm descended from him - but hey ho, it was a brilliant display.

Absolutely bl$$dy kn*ckered, 4 hours round the town last night checking the signage (not moving my car, it's in a legal parking space and it's staying there 'til Monday). Re-check this morning at 6.00 am, several signs ripped down and some in wrong places and none in some stragetic places.

Couldn't believe that having replaced one it was ripped down again before I went to do me duty in the carpark. This is not drunken idiots - this is something else. Don't they want our town to succeed?

Very, very tired but happy JanieB

Oh! I have this week off - so I'll catch up
