  • Why does it always happen to us?

Had our new bed delivered today, at bleedin 750am! We were led to believe it would arrive between 9am and 1pm, so set the alarm for 8am (a bit of a lie in - my only chance in the past 2 weeks and in the next 7 days), only to be woken up by the delivery guys!

Que me holding the dog and Lee frantically dismantling our old bed to move it into the back bedroom, after 10 mins of waiting the delivery guys tell me that they only have 15 mins per drop, so have to bring it in and as we havent got the room clear they wont assemble it!

Ok, no major panic, so we get it all upstairs, then have a brew before we start to put it together and finish moving the old bed.

Come to get the base of the bed into the gap between the fitted bedside cabinets, only to find its 2" too big!!

Recheck the mneasurements, the bed we bought is allegedly 150cm, the gap is 152cm, so should fit, but the bed base is actually 156cm, so wont go in!

Ring Sleepmasters, to be told 'Yes, we usually recommend leaving a couple of inches more than the size of the matress' Hmm, no-one told us!!

So, end up dismantling fitted bedside cabinets and chopping the width down by 2cm each side, refitting them (fortunately the doors werent too big) just to be able to get the bed in! Mind you, it is a lovely bed! So, a day where we'd hoped to spend at least 4 or 5 hours on the plot then turns into a quick visit to water and harvest!

Got to the plot, turned the car off, only to find it still making a whining noise, sounds like the power hydro electric steering pump, so after watering and harvesting we decided to call ti a day, jumpd in the car, and it wouldnt start!!

Que Lee and another plotholder pushing the car to jump start me! Got home and have disconnected the battery after charging it a bit, so its gonna be off the road until I can get MINI to look at it! Grr!!

Add to this the fact that Amazon havent yet delivered the memory cards I ordered on Friday for my new Camera (Canon Eos 10D - 2nd hand from ebay, 6.3Mpixels and a nice bit of kit!), so I cant yet have a good play with it ! Grr, its not turning out to be my day at all!
    Blessings

Oh Mrs D......!!! Curse the bloody lot of them!

Hasn't the store got any memory cards? Misappropriate some surely!?!? Rang the store today and spoke to Jenny. Very helpful... She fit!?!?

Bed - compensate for the hassle... Bounce test...

As for the Mini - buy an old Rover. They have an excuse to die at every opportunity. Slipping serpentine drive belt? Our shredded itself earlier. That wasn't a problem... The tensioner was shredded too. Halfords = not available. Fiat = not available. Motor Factors = available, but 5 day delivery. So 55 quid later still nuffink!

At least Shirls has just finished planting her Vales Emeralds just now. Pizza time now so I am obliged to leggit.
      Let's go diggin' dirt....

Oh Mrs D, days like this are sent to test our resolve...

...but its turned into a lovely evening here, watching the sun sink in the west with a glass of nice red (eek! it needs a refill!!!), heartily recommended.

Hey - look on the bright side - what a fabbo huge bed you've got!

Actually, commiserations on the delivery front - I phoned to have an item collected (which needed disassemblng and packing) on Monday pm and was told it would be collected on 3 to 5 days.

Tuesday 9.15am the UPS guy was at the door to collect...needless to say, the packing up that I did on the spot was a bit of a shoddy job...

Bleedin cheek - they were early! OOOOOh I would have been spitting so well done you for being so calm about it. With regards to measurements - if that had happened to us it would have been my fault cos anything that goes wrong is!

It's funny about the new bed as we've just had one delivered too last week Mrs. D.! We waited in & just before 1 o'clock I thought, 'they won't come until after lunch now' & started making ours... knock on the door & there they were. We'd ordered a king size bed & measured that it would fit, the other one was a double. Trouble was we have a sort of 'overhang' over the stairs & a turn at the top....did you know a king size bed is six inches too big to fit where a double did? We had to take all the pictures down off the hall, stairway & landing, they had to dismantle the bed frame & then they spent ten minutes trying to bend. fold & squeeze the mattress up the stairs! Never mind we all got our new beds in the end.

I dunno, these people that try and put their bed in sideways eh!?

I do like these delivery/service companies that ring you half an hour before they arrive (although of those not all of them do it).

Look outside MrsD, the sun is shining - that should put a smile of yer face!

If not, just think of the fine nights sleep you must now be getting.

See now I would have said don't be silly you have at least a couple of hours, you are two hours early!!!

Sorry bach, but you have lost me with the pump steering electric hydro jobby, don't do cars. Turn key and go, when it stops fill with fuel and go again.

Look on the bright side at least it was the bed you ordered!!

Lol! Thanks for all the replies folks, bit calmer and less stressed now, bed is wonderful, one of them memory foam jobbies and ultra, ultra comfy!

Car is booked in for next Wednesday, so we're gonna be sharing Mr D's Panda until then, a bit of a pain cos it means doubling the mileage as we work diff shifts, but better than chancing the MINI!

Camera memory cards arrived today, so just been playing down the plot, piccies are amazing! Just gotta resize em and I'll hopefully get some posted in a bit!

Work today wasnt too stressful, left with only 3 of us to cover the store (2 on day off, 1 on hols and 2 rang in sick), but we managed ok, thankfully it wasnt too busy!

Good news is one of my posts on the Autumn planting thread has been chosen for inclusion in the GYO mag, so that brightened my day considerably!

Thanks all for the cheering up, I needed it!!
