The scan is brilliant get a picture and you will be able to show it to all your family and freinds, it also puts you at ease that everything is ok. There is nothing like seeing your baby for the first time even if its on a screen.
Hope it all goes well for LW and you.
Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache
cos you're about to become a parent & it's great prep for the worry you've got ahead of you!!I could lie & say it gets easier but I know for at least the 1st 6yrs it doesn't & from what everyone with older kidssay(inc my parents!!)...get used to that anguish!!!!On the VERY good side once you've seen your cute little bubba the totally overwhelming feeling of "that's MY baby" will prob drown out all the nervousness & icky tummy feelings!
Good Luck & I'm sure everything will be fine & by 6:30 tonight you'll prob be one of those sad gits that can't stop showing everyone your scan piccie!!(&don't worry I think we all become sad gits at that time in our life!!) ENJOY!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Remember tissues! And money for the photos - you'll want more than you can possibly imagine when the person doing the scan says 'and here's one that shows baby waving' or 'and now they're sucking their thumb'!
Are you going to ask what sex it is? I never wanted to know because I wanted the surprise - it would have been a bit like knowing what was under the Christmas tree
I know LW is very nervous - like me about all the "what if's" that the scan may reveal, but she's also nervous about the full bladder thing. Less so now that she is getting home early (as am I) so that I can drive her in. Otherwise she would be travelling on the tube/train with a full bladder - at least with me driving I can put my foot down/make a detour if needed. Peace of mind.
We know that the NHS charge £5 (5 x 1 pound coins) per photo, but the scane we're having today is at a private clinic, so not too sure about what they'll charge. Both Granmothers-to-be want copies, but to be honest, I think I'll scan/print/frame extra copies myself.
As for asking the sex - I'm not bothered to be honest. I'll just be happy that he/she is healthy and doing well. If they do tell us I won't be disappointed, but equally I'm not going to ask. I think LW feels the same.
good luck you'll be fine just think of poor LW having to have a full bladder......
And then having to endure 20mins or so of the sonographer pressing rather hard on said full bladder!!~desperately wanting to see more&more of baby but equally as desperate for them to just stop!!

Our DD was born in April and when we had the scan we were saving really hard so that OH could take more time off when DD was born. So OH made a card, and asked the sonographer to write inside whether it was a girl or a boy, we open this up on christmas morning as we hadn't bought any presents for each other. It was lovely to know, but I wouldn't have minded not knowing either.

£5, they sure have gone up recently, I remember it being £1 a photo, in 2005. Does that mean you are having one of those 'I can see the face' jobbies as opposed to a silhouette shot?

It's soooo exciting! Good luck. The next scan at 20 weeks LW won't need a full bladder as baby is big enough to see properly then so that one is much more comfortable!
I had to have early scans at 6 weeks ish with both of mine due to previous ectopic and I waited for hours in the waiting room about to BURST with my full bladder only to get in and she says 'oh it's too early to do a tummy scan you need to empty your bladder so we can do an internal one instead!'. I was like 'Now they bloody tell me' as I ran to the loo lol
oooh... exciting day!!!!!! We were told that you can't see sex of baby until 20 weeks, but we didn't want to find out either. Well, I did a bit, but then chickened out. I confess that I needed a couple of tissues though... it was completely brilliant but pretty emotional seeing little baby in there growing itself!
I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
