  • Lost Camera

My oh has lost his camera today in Torquay. It was in his bag that he takes to work and had been using it to take pictures for work, it fell out of the bag, as soon as he realised he went back to look for it and it had gone. He has phoned and logged it with the police, I said good job we have contents insurance, his reply we will have to pay excess, yeah so says I the camera is worth quite a lot more than the excess, his attitude stinks at the mo and I can see we are heading for a big fall out.
He doent do anything except sit on the computer all evening and weekends and its doing my head in.
    Rant over.
If anyone finds a camera please hand it in.
    Thanks Jackie

If he was using it for company business, then surely it should be claimed against the company insurance?
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I have a sticker with my name, address and phone number in mine. It has worked once!

The camera might not be covered by your insurance unless you paid for 'away from home' I know mine wasn't covered when I dropped it down the stairs either but we chose a cheap policy & mine wasn't worth more than the excess anyway. Ask him about the 'work' insurance when he's in a better mood. Look on the bright side lots of people would be happy for their O.H. to stay on the computer & out of their way. Must admit it gets on my nerves sometimes too when mine does it!

Staying on the compter is ok except when the house is in such a mess he never finishes jobs, the breakfast room and kitchen were started more than seven years ago and still not finished nor the lounge 10 years and wants doing again.
I wont bore you with the rest, but I have told him I will get someone in to do it if he doesnt pull his finger out. lol

Found out yesterday camera not covered on insurance as it was away from the house.
Updated insurance so now everything like camera's, Laptop's, phone's etc are now covered when on the move as it were. Also bicycle's that are out and about but only if locked. Only cost about an extra £5 a month for all of it to be covered.

                "£5 a month"

Blimey! So you need to be careless with £60 of goods A YEAR for that to be worthwhile (not including any excess).

Our household policy only has a whole-world-lose-it-anywhere type cover. I don;t know if its expensive, relatively speaking, but might be worth looking for that type specifically at policy renewal time. (Also possible that part of the £5-a-month is the admin cost of changing your policy, and at renewal it will be more like pennies-per-month.

Yes there was an admin charge cant remember how much it was she only charged one amount when she could have charged twice as we changed two things ie the bikes and the camera laptops etc. Renewed recently didnt know that those things were not covered our fault for not realising, camera was worth about £400.
