  • Hair in compost

Hi all, I've read that hair can be composted. I'm wondering about dog hair, I empty my bagless hoover daily as it compromises mainly dog hair from my two lovely but maltable dogs.
Would I be able to compost this as a dry ingredient or am I right in thinking yukkk!!!!
Any advise would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

i always empty my hoover on the compost, it's full of dog, cat and human hair ...... plus lots and lots of dead skin cells, and other disgusting stuff you probably don't want to look at under a microscope i've never noticed any remains when the compost is cooked

Yep, what with Dexter and the two cats, I also empty the contents of my dyson into the compost bin - plenty of fur then! Bernie

when the OH clips my hair it always ends up on the compost heap, we have a mini poodle that doesn't moult but when we give her a trim it also goes on the heap, (we do have seperate clippers ) the dyson gets emptied on there as well as we have natural carpets so no synthetic fibres.
