I think you can only get it on the internet - I found it at www.goodnessdirect.co.uk. A friend of mine whos a school nurse recommended it to me and my kids have been nit free this year (so far!!).
It doesn't smell too bad either like some remedies.
If you do get them I still think wet combing is the best solution although it is time consuming - but not easy if you have to do your own head!!
I agree with you, Bramble, about tea tree oil, although I don't think I've ever used so much in one go!! Does tea tree kill the eggs too? We seem to be winning the battle..many thanks to all for the advice...I hear nits are a right of passage for all parents!!
My younger son was plagued by nits when he was in the first years at school - apparently the fact the little kids all sit with their heads close together makes it easy to pass them round.
I gave up on chemicals and simply combed his hair 2 or 3 times daily with the bug comb. When you haven't had any critters for a week of combings it is all over - till next time.
If I had used chemicals the poor lad would have been permanently coated with gunge!!
I don't know how many replies you've had so far, but a liberal dosing with hair conditioner and a nit comb for a couple of days works wonders with our 17 year old who has hair nearly to his bum! Alright, I exagerate, but it's past his shoulders
