The Hairy Bakers Monday 18 August
8:30pm - 9:00pm
BBC2
1/4
"Do you think anyone's missed us?" bellows Dave Myers, his vast brow concertinaing in concern. "Of course they 'ave!" roars Simon King. Yes, TV's motorcycling gastronomes are back. Only this time, they're not Hairy Bikers, they're Hairy Bakers: a vowel swap that enables them to enter a whole new world of baking-based possibilities. Tonight, they zoom around the north of England, kneading and guffawing their way through a kaleidoscopic selection of breads. It's rousing stuff, with robust recipes (Brown Ale loaf, barley stotty) interspersed with nice scenery, deafening encounters with locals and King's incessant innuendos ("I love a morning roll" etc). Scrumptious.
Annoyingly only 4 episodes.
