            Good one! I like Toby.

His Ethical Garden at this year's Gardeners' World Live won him Gold and Best In Show.

Toby has presented and guest presented for many gardening shows, including Gardeners' World Live, Home Front In The Garden, and Real Wrecks for the BBC, and RHS Garden Challenge and Weed It & Reap for UKTV Style.

Nick Shearman...BBC Knowledge, says: "He is hugely likeable and enthusiastic and brings to the team his love of recycling and ethical gardening."

Toby will join Gardeners' World regulars Carol Klein and Joe Swift on Friday 12 September when the main series returns to BBC Two after the summer specials.

He adds: "For me gardening isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life that keeps you in touch with the seasons and creates a constant supply of things to look forward to..."

I like Toby Buckland, he's a cheery chappy.
Perhaps Carol K didn't want the job?

Wasn't bold enough to say I've never heard of him!!!!!! ( makes a few of us then !!)

He's not as hunky as the other guy I thought they'd give the position to ....oh well, maybe we'll be able to concentrate better on what he has to say instead

Toby has been described as 'a safe avuncular choice' on the RHS site - which I found funny, I guess he could be someone's uncle.

I first saw him many years ago on a Sky type gardening show, can't for the life of me remember what it was called, he did tidy stuff with peoples problem areas.

Here and here gives you a brief on the boy

If you watch The Bill, he reminds me of Mickey Webb

He was on the show the week before last doing a small woodland garden near the wild meadow pond area of Berryfields. I think that was his screen test. I only concentrate on the veggie aspects of the show, so I follow Jo's allotment and Alys's veggie area. I'm not sure that Toby is a veg person that Monty was. So I hope Jo and Alys continue and hold up the veggie flag part of the show.

I like Toby, he's well into his allotments too so hopefully he will give veggies a bigger slot on the show. Didn't he present an allotment show with his wife?
