He's a keen veggie bloke alright, in his recent gold medal at gardeners world live, he had 20 plant and 12 vegetable varieties in his display, that to me shows a clear bent towards veg. Go toby, and get rid of that floundering baffoon with the plot, joe swift.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I'd never heard of him before I saw him on GW last week. I liked him. I think I've seen him on GW before as a guest last year...
I'm willing to give the dude a shot (which I'm sure the BBC are relieved about!)

What would Vedder do?

I reckon part of his attraction (for the Beeb) is that he will/may appeal to younger views - like you Wayne hun
He knows his trade, he is likeable, there isn't much anyone (I wouldn't think) could dislike about him. I'm sure he will fit the role, I'm more interested in seeing how he develops the role to fit him.
If you are reading this Toby, which I'm sure you are, congratulationsaka

An interesting choice as he is quite a veg person from his previous writings. Also very good at getting children involved in the garden.
I think its really good to get someone who is relatively unknown (sorry Toby if you are reading this!) as it really gives him alot of scope to do things differently and in his own way.~
Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

I read Toby in Amateur Gardening every week (it's a good read, but they do like to slag off organic gardeners in that mag)
I didn't particularly like TB's presenting style, but will give him a 2nd chance. I've taped it, just off to watch it now (if Mr Sheds rings up, I'm ironing OK)All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

he doesn't take up post until 12 September I think
As for Alys removing her glasses, she is clearly being given a Beeb make-over, you see it often when new (female) presenters come on the TV, they start by losing lbs and move on through that - I'm sure it's not needed - but then again, who am I to say a gal can't make the best of herself just cos I'm a scruffaka
