  • Are there any wages/accounts peeps on here please?

    Sorry, I know this is nothing to do with gardening, but can anyone tell me what the net pay would be for someone whose gross pay is £112 - they are on a week one basis. Thanks in advance.

    i think it depends on the tax bracket you are in, i dont think you would be paying a lot of tax, if any at all! now sure of tax brackets at the mo, sorry wish i could help more! would you not find out from the inland revenue website, they may have a calculator on there.

      Its not for me - its one of my employees, but I can't get into my Sage payroll at the moment. He's taxed on a week 1,month 1 basis. I had a look on the IR website, but couldn't see what I wanted.

          Used to do wages occasionally years ago - some by machine others by hand so know a bit.

          Best guess - and it is only a guess as the site is difficult to follow

          Income £112

          Tax = £1.60
          NIC = £3.52

          Nett = £106.88

          Tax calculated at 20% rate of emergency wk1 code of 543L (5435/52=104)
          112-104=8*20%= £1.60

          NIC (class 1) calculated at 11% rate as difference of lower threshold of £90 taken from weekly £112 = £32*11%=£3.52

          The 10% band will be reinstated for some people I think in Sep/Oct this year to further complicate matters as I believe not all people will qualify.

          I used to be able to prety much get with 50p when peeps at work queried it and I was long off doing wages then. If you share the info with the employee please be sure to say this is not a professional opinion and only one worked out by a 'reasonably' good amateur.

          I'd be interested to know how close I am!

            No worries squashysu, thanks anyway. Thanks quark - he usually earns a bit more than that & his wages are usually the same each week, but he had a couple of days off this week and is off next week and I'd said I'd pop round and pay him tomorrow, but now my Sage is playing up and won't let me in Maybe I'll just pay him the total amount gross, and knock off the tax & n.i next week.

              If he's a valued employee you could do this, but do make sure you put a note in with his wages saying what you've done, and keep a copy for yourself. Not sure how you will sort this out with your Sage Payroll programme, though.

                I'm suitably impressed quark1! Ferengi are renowned bookkeepers though aren't they!
