I am trying to do something for myself this week.
It's my birthday tomorrow so I took this week off as holiday.
As it's been so wet lately, I thought on Sunday I would cut some new raised beds (the boy has been saying for a year now he will dig some for me, I even bought him some stainless steel tools as he said my fork and spade are crap).
My plot I'm putting the veg raised beds on is basically clay and has not been dug evidentially for over 12 years now. So I can have heavy wet digging or rent a pneumatic drill when it's like hardened concrete.
Got two dug completely and went for a third. Managed 2/3 when I just couldn't do anymore.
Yesterday went and completed the third and dug over the other two again mixing in compost. Oh forgot to say boy child bought me 16 bags of compost for my birthday and went and loaded that on my motor, transported to the site and lugged it onto my plots before starting digging.
Again I got to the state where I just didn't have the energy to do the last bed and got soaked in the rain to boot.
Had a lie in this morning as I was so zonked and my back feels like it has steel shafts in it, not too flexible at present. And it's raining but I've still got to go down the lotties to water (greenhouse and tunnel).
OH and myself are planning to do Chinese for my birthday dinner, so got to do shopping for this.
Kids love it when I do Chinese as I tend to go a little OTT.
Planning: Kung Po Chicken, Beef in Cashews, plain boiled rice, fried rice, spring rolls, pork and ginger dumplings, dim sum, pork spare ribs and butterfly prawns.
So tomorrow I'll have to go pick cabbage, peppers, spring onions, spinnach from plot.
Looking forward to Thursday and I'll have a rest (perhaps)I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I am planning a party for O's 40th in a couple of weeks time.
When brother-in-law asked me what to get him for a pressie - I suggested a satnav as O is always traveling around to get to jobs (puter techie) and he and the other two brothers are all into technical gadgets so I suggested they club together, with parents, for it. Trouble is O keeps saying he doesnt really want a satnav as he doesnt know how much he will use it (loves the ole maps does my hubbie). Brother-in-law (who doesnt like women organising his life-wheras I am from a family of women who sort everything!) insisted on discussing it with O who of course told him he wasnt keen. grrrr - back to square one!
My argument is; how much will he use cuff links, tie pins and the like? - its much better to get him something he is more likely to use and most people I have spoken to about satnav say they didnt think they would use it much either but they couldnt do without it now. If people give him money he always just puts it in the bank and it gets swallowed up by bills. I want him to have some things for him for a change. He also wanted a ladder (to get up on the roof away from me probally!) which I had asked my family to get so when O told me I had to ring back his brother (he got that wrong - he was meant to ring back - LOL!) to give a firm answer I then re-suggested a ladder. He then said what about the satnav and I said my family said they would get it. He then said "but O doesnt want one" I wish slaps could be sent down the phone!! LOL So I politely replied "Thats what my family want to give him and I am just staying out of it"
So much stress for such a simple thing. Its a real shame as when I first met him and his wife (when she was girlfriend) I felt I clicked with them but I just find myself being so careful what I say to them. I now put off ringing them as I find it soooo stressfull.Tammy x x x x

Point is though Tootles, although you miss them when they have gone, as you obviously take special care of them, they will appreciate it (well some don't) but they are more likely to come back. Great, you have something to look forward to.I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Some people feel the rain, others just get wet.
