  • More "DATA" lost

Yet more stored data has been "lost" this time on prison staff.
Do members think ID cards are a good idea?

I would have no objection to carrying an ID card, neither would (I think) most genuine law-abiding people. However we are told that almost anything can be forged these days so how long would it be before there was a black market in ID cards? What I would like to know is why the Government is using private firms to handle sensitive information - don't they have enough employees of their own?

Like anything else that has been "privatised" it is supposed to save tax payers money.
But with all the cock ups I have my doubts.

I have no objection to ID cards but the vast majority of us all have some form of photo id anyway, driving licences or passports. In Scotland all kids at academy age(12 and up) have young scot cards photo id's these are valid till they are 25, used in many schools as a debit card to pay for school meals saving kids having cash than can be stolen, gives discounts in shops etc and id for alcohol and cigs as has DOB on!
So my question is as nearly everyone has photo ID why spend X amount of tax payers money on a system that already exists??
