'road' works

We live 600m down a dirt track. The electricity company (EDF) announced last year that they wanted to run a cable down the track to serve a new wind farm up the valley. All along they have assured us that the track would not be closed - the track has been closed since Thursday!!!!! This means that a simple 600m journey has been replaced by a 10 minute cross country trip, anf I don't have a 4x4. Last night every workman that passed had been taught the stock phrase ' I am verry sorree'! The trucks stopped last night just 100m from the house so they should pass us before lunch......
This morning after leaving the children at school I have parked the car at the top of the track and walked down - but I couldn't do that yesterday with the bins and shopping.
And you should see the mess they are making of the 14th century terraces....
I might not be so annoyed if we got more than 190 volts!!! (the cables are 23000!)

This is France Two Sheds. I took some shoes back to the shop because they had fallen apart, and the lady said to me 'what did you expect - they were cheap' (honestly!!) The customer is an unfortunate inconvinience here. The only way to get anything done is to arrive at someones desk at 11.50 and refuse to leave until something is sorted (the country stops for lunch at 12!).
Don't get me wrong though - I love it here

I think my windows are about to rattle out of their frames!!!!!!!!!!!!!
