....as he is having both eyes operated on to hopefully correct his bad squint.
I am sure he will be fine and I will be a gibbering wreck...

janeyo - will post how he got on when I can It's only day surgery but he's only 4 and seems so little to be having an operation.

ps I have bought him a WALL.E toy to hopefully cheer him up after!

I had laser eye surgery a few months back, and my top tips.

Make sure he has dark dark glasses as any bright light really hurts. Tell him he looks really cool in them.

After the surgery, he'll probably be told to lie down, so make sure you read him a story - it SO boring just lying there not able to do anything.

Cool drinks, and some comfort food at the ready. Chips are good as they are easy to eat when you can't see much. Anything that needs forking or cutting - not good! I sent my OH out for chips and curry sauce for me!

P.S., I would have loved a WALL E toy after my op.

All the best!!My little girl(6)had grommets fitted last week~I think i was more worried than her!!The nurses were absolutely brilliant!When we got home & still now she wants to know when she can have another operation!!Big bit of advice is to take a book for YOU!!!I made sure & took lots for Daisy to do(which she snubbed in favour of the hospital toys!!)but totally forgot there'd be a while that I'd be grateful for a good book!!

I had a similar operation a few years ago, ....... 3 days later i had the most amazing black eyes ..... something to show off to his friends i reckon ....... everyone thought my then B/F had beat me up and gave him loads of sh*t lol

He'll be fine ..... they are mostly less scared than us parents ...... when my son had an op on his knee, he was telling jokes, they stuck the needle in and he dropped off ..... i passed out and split my head open on a table and ended up in casualty having 3 stitches

It is scarey but children are very resilient. After my baby had his tonsils done he was back home asking for crisps Baby is 17 now and over 6ft! Be prepared, your little one will look really tiny in a hospital bed, a book for you is a great idea and a flask of drink. Hospital coffee is rank and expensive.

Hope all goes well defo take a book, my son had a herniw op when he was 13 moths old now 6ft plus and 21 next month. Its a mothers right to worry. Hugs to you both.

My daughter had a squint and had an operation in one eye at 2 years old and the other eye at 4 years old. We were really nervous about it, but so glad we had the courage to have it done as her eyes are fine now. We found the most distressing part for us was when they gave her the anesthetic and then the waiting.
