  • whoops!!!!!

i was just cleaning the baby fish out, they are getting quite big now, and one of them is completely orange, and theres 2 shubunkins, the others are still brown.

anyway, i put them in a bowl to clean the tank, used hot water from the tap, to clean it, put the water back in, and the fish, then realised that the 2 snails that are in there, have cooked ... escargot anyone??

    I feel really guilty now

Reminds me of when we had tropical fish when I was younger and mum cleaned them out and spent ages. The put them back into HOT water as she thought it would cool to the right temperature. I TOLD her it would boil the fish but shs did it anyway and they span madly round the tank for a bit.

Mum says, 'look, they like it'..... they they all floated to the top. Dead.

she was cross to think she had spent all that time cleaning them out just to kill them all!

Oh dear Lynda, I quite like snails (except when they're eating my plants!) but don't think I fancy eating one even if it has been 'lightly poached'! Poor things.
Janeyo, it's a good job your mum didn't have the same approach with you, 'Oh the bath water'll cool down, look she's splashing around, she's enjoying it!'
Into every life a little rain must fall.

am i the only one that says sorry to worms when i chop them in half, or squash a snail shell? funny but i don't feel the same way about feeding them to the birds,or putting slug pellets diown, but i can't cut them in half.

I like the pond snails, they are cute

No, Lynda, you're not. I wish there was some kind of worm air-raid system to tell the little beggars Big Foot is on the way. You could try watering the ground before forking, as they think it's raining and come to the surface. That's if you've got all day, of course, which I haven't sadly, so I say sorry a lot!
