my dad fitted my kitchen a few years ago, he is a joiner and kitchen fitter so I was fairly happy with my choice of tradesman 
however when other half and he were fitting the worktop, it had to placed on at an awkward angle (the kitchen was an awkward shape!!) - my dad dropped the worktop and it split at the end, just a smidgen! OMG - I just looked with horror...my dad was furious with himself but it was just the end of the worktop and it got patched it up...it did take the gleam off my new kitchen because I knew it was there , but .......it wasn't the end of the world for me...i think my dad was more furious than I was!
...it can be difficult when things go wrong that your family do for you eh?
