It's the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend... guess where I am

here's a clue. It's 30 degrees C day and night; our local restaurant was shut last night cos someone called Coulthard wanted to eat there; and half the city's roads are shut

We're actually visiting family, the Grand Prix was just a bonus (free tickets, free bar: it'd be rude to refuse wouldn't it?)

we haven't seen Lewis, although we are waving madly at his car as it zooms past. I have a few terrible photos on the camera phone: basically just blur.
They did Fiat 500 "racing" last night ... oh my god, how slow? They just pootled round the track at 50mph - you had time to go to the bar and get served in between laps.

It's not all that well organised really, unusual for Singapore who are so good at most things. There are only 2 big screens viewable from the main field. Where we are, on a balcony, you can't see squit. There's a TV for us, but it's inside! So you have to run in-and-out to see what's going on. Still, it's a good experience.

For those who didn't watch this wonderful night-time spectacle - they missed a real treat. For TV coverage they could improve the change of camera - there were a few gaps in the continuity of the racing action as they anticipated too early a drivers' entry into certain race positions.

OK - so you have to like F1 - and we do - and Singapore is a very glamorous setting be it day or night.

Talk of other s.hemisphere countries going floodlit - just hope its not a bandwagon to satisfy the huge european following lunchtime viewing habits. There is still a great 'party' to be had by the local neighbours/friends on Aussie race day for instance - when our dear friend who also loves the sport joins us for either a curry with all the bits or a 'Full English' at 3am! Crazy - but huge fun.

Two Sheds -you certainly cannot be rude and refuse an family invite - will you be going next year?! Not that I'm envious of course! Hope you had a fab time.

I didn't go to the actual Race Night (last night) but Mr Sheds did. He loved it - they even let you on the track itself after the race, and he went up to see the cars.

It was all really well organised ... it only took 20 mins to get out of the ground and into a cab. Contrasting with, say, Wembley, where it takes you 2 hrs plus to get out and on the way home ...

A lot of things are better in Singapore - the underground is superb, and only about 50p a journey.
