  • Holiday garden bargains?

I can't find the thread where someone posted about nipping to France for some garden bits & bobs bargains.

What other holiday garden bargains/souvenirs have you grapes bought back with you? Or nipped across to le continont to purchase?

We bought some generic alpha biet cucumber seeds back from N. Cyprus because we loved eating them so much. The seeds were from a market stall in amongst bric a brac, but they have turned out to be a great buy. The cucumbers taste just like those grown abroad and grow quickly and easily and in quantity!

Hi smallblue planet - it's in the Top Tips bit - I didn't go just for the gardening stuff, although it was worth having a look. They also had fleece (and in different colours - orange, green etc!) and loads of French bean seeds (as you'd expect I suppose) but I didn't get any cos I don't know enough about varieties - still reading and learning! It was an Intermarche hypermarket but not the one in Calais.

PS The wine's a bargain too!

Intermarche sell glysophate at full stength for around 12 euros per litre. Seed packets are much more generous too and do try the garlic from local markets especially in Normandy or Brittany as its growing conditions are very simmilar to here. We had great success this year with it and will be loading up again in a fortnights time.

Also do try the garden centres as they are very good as well.
