  • should i shave my head or not??

i'm having a debate with myself over whether i should shave my head or not ...... i'm kinda bored with my hair, cut about 8 inches off a couple of weeks ago, but it's still bugging me, it's kinda semi wavy, and unless i spend half an hour straightening it and half a can of hairspray it always looks like i've been through a hedge backwards ....... so i tend to just clip it op or stick a scrunchie round it, cos i can't be bothered messing with it.

i've had loads of different styles over the years, but by the time i've got home, it's back to a birds nest.

so i figured i might cut it dead short, so i can just forget about it. and can do it myself with the clippers, ..... i'm not very good at going to the hairdressers, ....... ok i'm a bit phobic of them

the only issue with this, is when i was 11 i could sit on my hair, then my friend had hers cut short, i liked it, had it all cut off, and cried every time i looked in a mirror ....... i don't know if i'll even suit short hair ....... dilemma dilemma

Suggest you scrape hair back, look in the mirror and see if you have a resemblance to Demi Moore. If yes, shave hair.

However, if you look like either:
    (a) a male relative
    or
    (b) someone undergoing chemo

I guess you should leave well alone.

hmmmmm no resemblance to Demi Moore, i don't look like my dad, so we're ok there, and with the rings round my eyes, maybe it'll have to be most like the chemo patient ....... ok definitely one against ........ OH said no probs, as long as he can do it, and son has said, only if you do it for charity, then you'll at least have a decent reason for looking like a muppet

Lynda, I've been going through the same debate myself - mine spends all it's time pulled back in a pony-tail, so what's the point of it being there?! But my OH has seriously pooh-poohed the idea, and reckons I'll look ridiculous...
There is a website somewhere that lets you upload a photo of yourself and try out different hairstyles on it, but I'm not sure they had an option for the bald look

Purely a personal point of view, but I think a lot of shaven headed women look 'Dike-ish' to me, especially if there is a flat top to there shaveness! (Appologies to all women with shaven heads who look really sexy!)

Lynda I also regularly have this same dilema(& they say us women have nothing serious to worry about!!).Anyway every time I give it serious consideration I then proceed to have an awful nightmare about regretting it & the locks stay!!Like you most days it's just scraped back with a scrunchie & then a few days later when the mass of dreads have formed & I decide it really needs a brush & my arms ache from brushing for half an hour to get them all out~then I go through the huge dilema again!!But then there's the (very rare)nights out, where I'm sooo pleased to have not cut it!
Other considerations are~Is short hair really easier to maintain? If you wake up with a bad hair day you can't just tie it up.Also unless you do go for the shaved look(heed Snadgers & Hazels words!!)You will then need regular trips to the hairdresser to keep it looking semi-o.k!!~I've managed 4&1/2 years without visitting(Rikki Lake years ago kindly taught me~& I'm sure thousands others~how to cut my fringe!!)
I'd agree with your son though,IF you do do it then do it for charity! That way if it looks a total pig you can constantly remind yourself & all those that dare to laugh just why you did it!!

Personally I'm not a big fan of head shaving. I remember everyone going on about Skinhead O'Conner - "oh, but she looks so pretty...blah, blah". No, she looked like a Buddhist monk boy!

I shaved my head several years agoi, but I looked like a thug, so decided to grow it again for our wedding. I didn't want to look back at the photos in years to come and look like a hooligan in my own wedding piccies.

LadyWayne also had her hair cut short once - looking back on it now we laugh, but at the time she just cried for ages. She looked like an extra from Prisoner Cell Block H. Needless to say, she hasn't even considered it since.

Ultimately, the decision is yours of course, but for what it's worth, I'd say don't do it.

I agree with LW - I cut mine short when I passed 40 (it was the thinking then!) and I regretted it so much, Snowdrop really didn't like it, I really didn't like it - I would never ever go short (hair, I'm talking hair!) again

The shorter it is the more you will have to look after it!
It will need regular trims maybe every 2 weeks!!!!

if you go for it and dont like it....it will always grow back

I had mine long until a few months ago. It lived in a scrunchie. It wasn't a hair style, it was a coping strategy! I had it chopped to ear length and a fringe re-instated. Much easier to look after. I tend to use a hot brush to curl it under when it's just dried - because it has its own curl and they are all in different directions! Takes about 4 minutes and I don't need to do it again until it's next washed - about every 3 days.

                            DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
It's not a good look, really, really, it's not!
Just find a good hairdresser and explain the problems your having with your hair, they should be able to suggest suitable styles.

Just remembered another very good reason why NOT to do it!!!Just think how "on show" your eyebrows will become!!Maybe it's just me..but the thought of having to constantly keep them in check would be unbearable!!(I love a slightly long fringe!!)
