Tree help

I want to get a tree in memory of Charlie but as you know I won't be here in Benson for all time to come - so I need the following considerations:
- needs to live in a pot for the next seven years at least
- foliage to be ginger/red/orange colour
- flowers not essential
- if flowering, April or October

The vet asked me if I wanted his ashes, I did think it would be nice to add him to the soil but I had a vision of me sneezing and Charlie blowing off down the runway, so thought better of it

Acer? one of those gorgeous red/ginger ones.
Dogwood/cornice - suggested my 'the OH' here, sipping his tea.

Sorry, not much good with trees [although when I was 7, I came top of the class in leaf identification, and I'd only been in this country a year].

I do know that Blueberries go red in the autumn, but not sure if that fits the brief. Just being a bit leftfield/abstract with that one.

I have a japanese acer in a pot. The leaves are ginger all summer! You'd have to go and look at them in a nursery - my other one is very dark wine colour. It's a lovely plant - would remind you of a good old pal.

haha - love the dogwood - I can see him now looking at the dogs as they passed our window, his expression was always one of 'yer but you have no choice, I do'

Acer would be my choice, but they hate wind I believe and oh my is it windy here!

I'd of suggested an Acer too - only because I have one in a pot.

theres a huge variety of acers here Acers for Fall Color - Rainyside.com maybe theres one that doesn't mind wind?

I would go for an acer too, I have one in a pot, its been there for 3 years so far and is doing well, lovely 'ginger' colour.

be sure you get one from a GC though, woolies ones 'lie' about the colour sometimes.

I was gonna say Acer too! Mine is looking beautiful just now, it's just reaching its beautiful red climax before it loses its leaves for winter, just gorgeous.
