Poor old you! I can sympathise having my own "back" The only advice I can give was given by a friend who, seeing me lean forward to ease the pain yelled "that's the worst thing you can do!! If you must lean, lean backwards!" This has proved good advice.

Hope its better soon. I took your advice re - exercise when my back went a few months ago and I am feeling the benefit now. I go to a weekly Japanese Body Conditioning class at my sons judo club. Apparently it was where Yoga was taken from. Recommend it to anyone!

I'm Jacks deep sense of frustration.

Ok, so my back's painful, that's annoying enough, but when I look out of the window and see the sun blazing down, and knowing the plot is in need of a bit of attention. Well that just takes the biscuit.

I took Monday and Tuesday off work to try and right myself, felt better so went in yesterday morning. Lasted until just after lunch then had to come home - I was leaning to the left and couldn't straighten up.

This morning I have kept myself laid in/on bed (except for going donwstairs for sustenance), watched Fight Club and listened to some Sonic Youth, managed to avoid Jeremy Kyle.

Looks like I'm home for the week - and can't do a thing on the plot.

Hun, lying down is not the best thing to do, gentle mobilisation is the best thing (and did I say reflexology?).

oooh and if you've got any feverfew in the garden have a nibble of that, a couple of leaves or make some feverfew tea.

Sorry to have got here late, but hope you are feeling a little better now? My dad suffered terribly with his back, at one point he resorted to sleeping on a hard wooden board. I agree re the gentle exercise advice hon, get it moving a little. But take care - and dont worry about the sunshine, it'll still be with us at the weekend.

I'm not lying completely still - doing stretches every half an hour or so, I've been here before, and I'll no doubt be here again.

I haven't had an episode for a long time (well over a year I think), but I know what to do to sort it out, I'm always just too impatient.

Not wishing to sound like a know it all, but having seen countless consultants and specialist over the years I'm pretty confident with my exercises and what I need to do. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Anti-inflamatories to reduce the swelling and gentle stretches to free up the muscles (which often spasm as a protective mechanism), then I ice the area again to reduce swelling (and inflammation/aggravation) further. I'll probably be right by the weekend.

I like the cold shower idea....

I'm going to make a start on the polka dots in the nursery in a bit - but will take it easy, and rest/stretch when I need to.
