I would if I were you, depends what medication you are on, and how long you intend to detox, but thats why i use that one, it's not harsh, you don't go hungry, you are just giving your gut a rest and flushing your kidneys.

I am drinker, so especially before and after xmas I like to clean myself up so i can enjoy a drink and all that rich food.

my philosophy is, keep fit, or at least fit enough to enjoy your vices

            Thanks Bridey

The drink will be the main problem for me! I have a couple of Juice books with a plan in each for 3 days.

I think 3 days will do to start!
            Cheers

well i can't drink juice, its the acidity that upsets my acid reflux problem, so i stick strictly to water when detoxing.

Personally, I wouldn't be doing any fasting for longer than a day.

You aren't going to clean all the sh!t out of your system in a week anyway. Better to use your "detox" as a kick-start to a life of healthy living.

Having said all that, I have found Carol Vorderman's Detox for Life to be full of really good, tasty, healthy recipes. Really made me feel energetic. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Carol-Vorderman

                  Horrific story for you:

BBC NEWS | UK | Woman left brain damaged by detox

A woman has been awarded more than £800,000 after she suffered permanent brain damage while on a detox diet.
The High Court heard Dawn Page, 52, began vomiting uncontrollably after starting The Amazing Hydration Diet. Mrs Page, from Oxfordshire, later had an epileptic seizure which damaged her memory, speech and concentration.....

fasting for more than 24 hours would be pretty silly, i don't see the point of fasting at all, hence the bread and honey, and the cheese and fruit instead of meats.
you need carbs and fat and a small amount of salt ( very small).
I don't approve of diets at all, only healthy eating.
any detox should be a gentle thing, cutting out things, not everything.

If I was brave enough, I would avoid anything using dairy, yeast, meat, fish, tofu/soya products, alcohol and anything blamed for bloating (like wheat in some people).

Basically keep it as un-messed with as possible, I'd even avoid shop bought fruit teas.

I know it doesn't leave you with much - except just about every vegetable and water - but that seems pure and healthy to me somehow. Expect headaches and dizzyness, skin breakouts and wind problems. Don't do it for more than three days to start with, and not when you have anything stresfull to do. At the same time it is not good to go on holiday and try to detox - you should be having more fun.

Apart from that, spoil yourself during detox - plenty of sleep and gentle walks, read a good book, have a face pack, get rid of all that dead skin. At the end you should be glowing.

Oh and no ciggies (if you still do - I can't remember, my mind went when I stopped)

BUT, get back into normal life gently.
                      Nell

usually when i want to flush my system, i drink 3-4 thick fruit and veg smoothies a day for 3-7 days, plenty of different colours and varieties, and honey if it needs sweetening. don't drink tea or coffee, or eat anything processed, drink water when thirsty,or herbal or lemon teas with a spoon of honey..... and take a double dose of each multi vitamin, b vitamin complex, omega 369 tablets, garlic, fish oil, calcium magnesium and zinc and ecinacea and evening primrose per day.... also eat plenty of live yoghurt. (add fruits or honey)

dunno how it rates as a detox diet as such, but it definitely clears the passages and makes me feel much less bloated.

I think moderation is the key - good healthy food (make as much of it as you can, including bread). Plenty of water, but don't over do it, Try going without meat for a week, take your protein from eggs and pulses (sorry that bit is easy for me as I am a veggie If you smoke DONT, if you like a drink, then a medium glass of red wine wont hurt. (Medium glass remember) Plenty of exercise( just walking to the shops instead of taking the car) and above all RELAX, take time out, sit quietly and rest, breathe steadily. Try it for a week - it works
