As I just submitted a miserable thread feel I owe it to you all to post a cheery one too!!My boy is at present on a dairy free diet in the hope it may ease his exzema. When I told him it was best he didn't wear his Spiderman costume for a while he asked~"Why is it made from dairy not cotton?"the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

Originally posted by Flummery View PostBeen at it a month already Jan. We sort of tittivated the house when we moved in and did the bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room and our bedroom fairly thoroughly. Now, 9 years on, the two other bedrooms and the hall stairs and landing (massive area with 9 doors leading from it!) all need doing. Having ancient central heating boiler replaced with greener model, laminate flooring in bedrooms and oak flooring in living room and dining room, AND a bedroom ceiling re-boarding. Seems interminable. However, I am keeping at it because I can't start me hen house till the people house it finished!
Snap!! I have been trying to sort my place out as well! Had new kitchen 3 years ago, I built the cupboards and my ex fitted half of them b4 buggering off to Trinidad for the rest of his life! One way or another I got most of the kitchen done just the floor to go and the kick boards under the cupboards! My daughter's fella is now going to do that for me when all the decorating is done!
As for the rest of the house back in May I had a pre 50th birthday party with some girl friends. We striped the walls in the dining room, also up the stairs and landing! last night was my second nite spent painting into the early hours of the morning in the dining room, second coat on the walls and ceiling, just the woodwork to go now, skirting boards, banisters and doors! The kitchen walls need to be touched up again. I want to get those bits done then I can to start to strip the living room over the weekend and get that painted by middle of next week!
Also since May, I have painted the entrance hall, downstairs loo, the bathroom and one of the three bedrooms. The walls leading upstairs and landing, only 5 doors on my upstairs landing so not as big as yours! Once I have the living room done there will just be my bedroom to do and that will be that, whole house done! The 3rd bedroom was only painted a couple of years ago but the room has not been used much so leaving that for now!
Oh yeah and not to forget I have also since then almost completely gutted my overgrown triffids in my for many years neglected garden! That is almost clear now, I planted 3 fruit bushes and some flower bushes a couple of weeks ago. I also have a couple of fruit trees to plant, my friend picked them up from lidl for me today!
So in keeping with this thread I am a very happy bunny because of all my hard work and that by Christmas I will have a newly decorated house, new carpets as a combined birthday and Christmas present from the kids bless them!! Also for one reason or another for the first time in quite a few years I will finally have a dining table and chairs in the dining room yeah...!
Having put all this down in black and white now it has just hit me that it will be like living in a new house! so yeah I am a very happy as has been years and years since the poor old house was decorated!Live like you never lived before!
Laugh Like you never laughed before!
Love like you never loved before!

Came home from Ma's (I go and help her get ready in the mornings - she lives with my sister who has to be at work early) via the allotment. Brought some lovely leeks home and enjoyed the quiet ambience.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

The child that I made cry last week has turned (almost) into a model pupil. She sat next to me, read to me, I helped her cut out and then I let her beat me at noughts & crosses.
