  • Clocks go back - not my body clock though....

Not that I sleep well at the best of times, but I could really do without another hour of sitting here with a cup of tea drumming my fingers and wishing the sleep fairy hadn't deserted me again.

Still, on the plus side, the dried fruit is now soaking in brandy ready to make the Christmas cake tomorrow, the ironing's done, the dishwasher's unpacked. At 10pm I couldn't keep my eyes open, and I drop off in front of the telly every night without fail, I must be so boring to live with.

Has anyone got any magic ways of resetting their body clocks? Having said that if you're around at the moment, I suppose that means no....

It normally only takes me a couple of days the get the body clock retimed but the dog....

Because of his medication he wakes us between 4 & 5 each morning, well this is going to be a fun week or so.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I usually don't have any problem. We got back from holiday yesterday, only Cornwall but my OH was not well and I was shattered by bedtime. I woke up this morning to him ranting at me for tossing and turning??? So, I've got up so that he can sleep in.

        Bless.

I'm in the same boat. I got rather excited when I heard late last night that the clocks went back, I had know idea. I had thought, yippee! another hour in bed but I was up at 5.00am, it's ridiculous and I'm exhausted. Thank goodness for the intetnet.

My clocks dont go back here, but I am a poor sleeper anyway. The worst thing about clocks not going back, is that I am now 3 hours in front of UK which makes conversations difficult with the grandkids, as they go to bed now before I finish work.
Still, home in 3 days. Yippee.

I remembered last night, then fell asleep in front of the telly, woke around 11 and dragged myself off to bed - FORGOT TO ALTER THE CLOCKS - and didn't click till I realised the clock on the computer was an hour behind my watch!!

You have to go to bed at your normal time (say 10pm)
Don't catnap in the daytime, however tired you are.
Don't lie in in the morning, even at weekends. (You must stick to a routine)
If you're awake, tossing and turning, get up.
Do something boring or read a book, to settle you down again if it's still middle of t'night.
If you want to go back to sleep, do not watch TV or put on any bright lights. They both stimulate your brain to wake up.

                Good luck ...

A nurse I worked with once told me that if you can't sleep (and I'm not usually a good sleeper!) then you should get up and have a cool bath or shower so you're shivvering when you're getting dried. Then go back to a warm bed and snuggle down to get warm, preferably naked. Tried it a couple of times and it does work, but I'm usually still really tired and not motivated to do anything in the middle of the night so it's tea and toast and hope for the best

My body clock is always set to 'HUNGRY!'

                      Whatever the time!

I find that curling up into the foetal position helps me to get back to sleep. Don't know why but it seems to work - not every time but sometimes.

If I can't sleep I just snuggle in to my (always boiling hot) OH. Before I know it...I'm sound asleep!! Bliss!!

I'm really really tired today though - think my body is trying to hibernate! Soon I'll be in the full throws of S.A.D! I hate winter!!!

Me SAD too. Went to bed at 7.30pm last night (I did read for an hour).

Thinking about it again now ~ but it's only half five for cripes sake.
