  • I have just sent this email to Mr Kirk;

    Dear Mr Kirk

I am a member of an online gardening community forum. There
has been a thread started which tells how a Mr Baxter has had
his allotment taken from him without any notice being given
whatsoever. Everyone is disgusted at the treatment Mr Baxter has
received and even more so that some four days after it being
highlighted in the local press, no action or even comment has been
heard from either the Council or the department involved.

It would seem Mr Baxter has been using the allotment for physical
activity and to eat healthily, to help ease his depression. The
situation he now finds himself in will be causing him further
stress, not to mention the increased cost on his family budget, now
that he will have to buy vegetables and also seed should he be able
to have the mental and physical energy to get through this and start
again. I feel the council must re-instate his allotment, re-plant a
full stock of healthy vegetables and at the very least offer him his
plot free of charge for at least one if not two or three years.

I have been led to believe that it is you we need to contact and I
hope that is the case and you can lead action to be taken to rectify
this matter at the earliest opportunity.

I look forward to hearing from you by return.

    Yours sincerely

    Tammy Grigg

I hope that reads ok - in a bit of a rush as off to dentist cos I got awful toothache.

    • If you look on the right hand side at the bottom, under 'most commented' - they have taken this story off the listing.

          • I just left comment #95 on the newspaper website. Why on earth would the paper take it off their comments listing? Do they need to keep favour with someone on the Council who has put pressure on them?

Strewth - first post here, and I thought I'd be asking about manure (grin)

However I Just had a phone call from Thrive in answer to my enquiry, and although they can't actually DO anything because they can't take sides etc, the lady concerned did wish us luck, and is sending me some links by email which may prove useful.

                    • The comments are still up - it's just not under the 'most commented' bit on the right hand side.

i suppose they might just count the comments from the last 4 days' news reports...

ETA: just checked and it's come back - how odd...
