Ye Gods You had weeds a foot high ? Can't you grow anything right ?????
I grow 32 types of veg organically on 5 acres (that's how I make my living ) and my weeds are easily three times that height, but my veg is (excuse the modesty) blindingly good - if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to run my box scheme.
What the hell have weeds got to do with how well a plot is run ? Send your council on a jolly up here to see what they make of my place, then they'll see what weeds are really like, and that fruit and veg can survive and occassionally beat the weeds.

Some of the beds on our highly productive 2 plots had weeds 2' tall this year (mainly due to the general wetness of the summer, you cant hoe when its sopping wet, and wet weather means weed seeds germinate all the quicker too!) perhaps even a little higher than that, but the plots were tended, and have produced over £1600 of organic fruit and veg, despite the poor summer! TBH, I even think the weeds helped some of the crops to survive the attentions of the local wabbits by hiding the crops! Well, thats my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!

                        • i reckon we could all spare a few seeds .... but you have to take it back if they offer it .... and there is a good reason for that ....... if you don't the depression will come back ..... it may seem like you can't be bothered right now, but trust me, when you get over the kick in the teeth you will regret it big time
