Hi, i know you are doing great things for health in this country, and i was hoping you might help with an allotment problem, even a comment on the website would be great ... well better than nothing lol .... a gentleman who is a well respected member of a gardening forum with plenty of support from it's members had an allotment ..... he also suffers from depression, having the allotment made him feel like a member of society again, his health was improved totally by growing his own veg .... with the awful weather we have had this year, a few weeds sprung up between his crops ..... last week he arrived at the allotment to find it ploughed up and allocated to someone else, (a council worker) ..... all his crops gone ..... the only explanation offered by the council was that an administrative error meant he didn't get any letters ..... we are appalled by this .... full story was printed in the scunthorpe telegraph, with an online version here. allotment, Wheatfields, North Lincolnshire Council, Bottesford Lane, Scunthorpe, it apparently is not the first time this council have done this ....obviously the council have acted appallingly in this matter and we are trying to get the north lincolnshire council to sit up and take notice and get this man his allotment back, and compensation for his loss of produce and shed etc. we figured that THE Jamie Oliver getting involved in some way may hopefully make a big difference, so If you can see any way to help, even if it is just a comment on the web site we would all be extremely grateful ... any other help you could possibly offer would be even more gratefully accepted .....
Many many thanks for taking the time to read,
kindest regards
Lynda xx

Would GYO like to run this as a story in next month's mag? Perhaps one of the mods could draw the editorial team's notice to this thread?
I just think that a phone call from a journalist to the Council asking for a 'comment prior to publication' might put a little pressure to bear...?
Just to bump the link back up:allotment, Wheatfields, North Lincolnshire Council, Bottesford Lane, Scunthorpe,Last edited by Hazel at the Hill; 06-11-2008, 04:05 PM.
