  • a few years ago, i spent 6 weeks digging raking sifting and layering rubble, rubbish soil and lovely top soil and compost to make a lovely smooth aerated free draining lawn, covered it in seeds, then 2 days later there was wind from my neighbours garden, which spread dandelion seeds all over the lawn, i think i cried at that point, and spent months afterward pulling up dandelions ....... so yes i get the point ...... now, i make sure i pull up the ones that spread by wind, but i'm afraid theres a fair amount of other stuff that pops up that gets pulled when i can be bothered .... and there are still a few bits of the garden i haven't even touched yet, cos i just haven't had the time or energy ...... so this winter i'm gonna get them sorted with cardboard ...... but it really is a constant job.

    • I dunno, it's a tough call isn't it? But I think if there's a bunch of veg growing, and weeds in among it, then you have to consider it as cultivated, unless the veg are so old they're sat there rotting. Especially in the weather we've had this year, where the annual weeds can get to a foot high in a couple of weeks!

        • Last week I put a load of manure on my plot so thats a large area I wont need to worry about for a while. My onions and garlic are sprouting as are my peas and I have approx 40 spring cabbages in the ground. Sweede, parsnips, carrots, strawberrys, blackcurrant, rhubarb, raspberry, gooseberry, blackberry, loganberry, as well as eight or nine herb plants still there. Hope no one thinks its negleted !!! cos there is weeds as well.

          • B****y cheek they should give you the same plot back at once not when one becomes available this needs resolving now not in the future. Prehaps we should all ring the number and complain.

                  • doesn't sound like they are even thinking about compensation, judging by that letter.

                    • earliest opportunity, are they having a laugh, its a bloomin council worker thats been given yours, they should give it back, they only took it away two weeks ago, there cant be anything growing in it yet!

ring them, say you would like your old plot back forthwith.
