Every time the tenant gets a warning letter, they claim ill health, or personal problems, or bad weather, or whatever. For 8 years!

I just want to say, Tricky I sincerely hope you get a 2nd chance, and if you do get your plot back, may you grow some award-winning veggies to show on the Vine in 09.

PS. I reported the idiot on the Scunthorpe website who was going on about benefit claimants, and allotments being just breeding grounds for rats ...
I know exactly what you mean Two Sheds, we have this problem too, people who are never seen except to dig a couple of square metres whenever the 'use it or lose it' letters go out. The thing is they are always given a second chance and I agree with it as one day I might find myself in circumstances where my plot is unattended for a time. Perhaps there should be a three strikes and you're out rule. Tricky hasn't even had one chance though and it's that which worries me.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

this is the guy who Councillor Kirk passed the matter on to, and the person that made the promise in the paper

        Email: len.k.foster@northlincs.gov.uk

        Committees: Licensing Committee
        Other: Deputy Leader
Cabinet member for Neighbourhood, Environmental and Communities
        North Lincolnshire Homes

Maybe a few emails asking him why Phil Hotchin went against what he said in the paper???

        • Dear Sir,
as you will be aware many people across the country are following this story, and whilst we were pleased to see your comments in Mondays (10th nov) issue, once again it would appear all is not as it seems?
When contacted by Mr. Hotchin, Mr. Baxter was informed he was NOT getting his plot back, that he could apply for another one, but would have to go back on the waiting list albeit at No.2!
This is not what the paper reported you as saying, nor is it satisfactory. I fail to see why Mr. Baxter can not have his original plot back, there can hardly be anything growing on it in two weeks at this time of year, after all it WAS ploughed up, this should be a relatively simple matter to solve, if the person that was given his plot, was on the waiting list in the proper manner, then they would be returned to the top of the list where they must have been before? unless there is more to this than meets the eye.
It is very disappointing to have been misled in this way, and you can be sure that Mr. Baxter's supporters will be continuing in their efforts on his behalf and watching , and reporting nationally the efforts made by you and your council in this matter

          Yours sincerely

          C Headley

DONE!! lets see if i get a reply to this one

                • Hi Tricky, not been here for a bit and have only just seen this thread.

Firstly I am so sorry this has happened to you. It is not right at all and hope it is sorted out well and quickly for you. I know how you feel about your own Christmas vegetables, it is the highlight of my growing season too!

I help look after the admin of our local plots. I am a trustee.

We would NEVER treat a plot holder in such a way.

When/if one of our plots looks - well - untidy, we TALK face to face with the plot holder, we gently ask if they wish to give up their plot, if there is a reason why they are struggling then we try to help, and we certainly give them some time to sort things out. My plot has looked sad at times, due to the problems that life has thrown my way, as I guess has happened to most of our holders at some stage - surely people are allowed a chance! People have had the same plot on our site for years and years and I bet most have had years when their plot looks better or worse!

Tricky has put up a shed, and grown vegetables on his plot, He also attends his plot on a regular basis, if a few weeds have taken over during this difficult year - in the grand scheme of things - so what, he should still be given a chance. Its only fair.
What the council have done here is totally wrong, very high handed and is not a proper way to treat a person. I would expect much better from a local council, I am disappointed, what kind of council are they? certainly not a caring one!

I would ask to see the waiting list.....something does not seem quite right here.

                  Good luck Tricky
