    • Ha ha ha Kayt

I worked for a QUANGO for 7 1/2 long years...and during the induction the induction just stopped - no signs that the induction was over or anything. The presenter just sat down and started chatting to a couple of the inductees.
I asked what was happening, and she said they were just now waiting for coffee but the induction was over. I said - apologies, but I can't just sit round waiting for coffee, I had uni that night and had to get off.

We always said after that the reason i was an annoying PITA* during my time was that I hadn't drunk the QUANGO coffee...and every sign of someone who used to be good, was promoted and became incompetent [and I've seen it lots of times] became 'they drunk the coffee, didn't they?'.

So my advice is, don't drink the coffee, keep your street head on and remember you're human before you're council...

      • I have still recieved no answer from either tha council or the editor.
However, going by the replies that have been sent to others, it would seem there is little more we can do here.
the council have admitted they were wrong, have promised to revise procedures, and have put all 9 (NINE!!!!) people affected back on the waiting list in order to accomodate all affected.
it is a shame Tricky won't get his plot back straight away, but then again, we should not expect him to be treated any different in this case than the others who had their plots taken away, that is after all what we were campaigning for, ALL affected to be recompensed.
All in all I think we can be proud that we have managed to pressure the council in to acting, when it was clear they wouldn't have if no pressure had been applied.
Of course if anyone can think of anything more we should be doing, feel free to shout out, and we shall of course keep a close eye to ensure the council keep their latest promises.

        • All nine should have been given their plots back and the people who had been given them should have been put back to where they were on the list and waited like every one else has to.

          • unfortunately as the council point out, these too are innocent bystanders in their cockup, why should they be punished as well? especially as they have no doubt spent cash and worked hard since they got their plots.
hard as it is, this does seem to be the best all round solution, if it comes off.

After the recent further communication regarding the error’s that both Iand the Council excepts were made at Wheatfield Allotment Site I hope thisfurther communication will allay any continuing concerns individuals haveover the events. The repeated desire of most correspondents that the Council must return Mr.Baxter’s original allotment back to him would prove somewhat difficult asis had already been allocated to a local resident days before the articlefrom Mr. Baxter appeared in the local press, that person had already beganplanning his work on the site and it would seem somewhat bizarre to inflictany degree of discomfort on an innocent bystander in these unfortunateevents. We have a very long list resident requiring plots right across the breathof North Lincolnshire and sites are allocated, sometimes within hours ofthe plot becoming vacant. The reference to Mr. Baxter being placed only second on the list for areplacement plot is simple down to the fact that Mr. Baxter was not theonly person effected by these misjudgements by the council’s officers, oneother person had been in touch with the council prior to the press articleand was placed in front of Mr. Baxter simple on date order. There were in fact 9 individuals effected by the incorrect procedure andthe council has come to an amicable arrangement with everyone to date and Iam now of the understanding that Mr. Baxter is now on top of the list(18.11.08) and in conversation with the senior officer in the section hasexpressed his reluctant satisfaction with the proposed outcome, given thatthe council will be assisting in further measures with the eventualrelocation. Can I finally reiterate that chances in the operational system have alreadybeen instigated and it is hard to conceive of similar error occurring inthe future. It would be remiss of me under the circumstances not to make comment onthe press coverage on this particular matter, but it might be sufficientonly to say that articles written in this style and manner should be readwith a quantity of salt to hand. If further information is required please don’t hesitate to gat in touch.

I don't have a problem with the content, per se, but oh Lordy, are they allowing illiterate men to become councillors, these days??? Doesn't give me much hope for school-leavers, if that's the standard of public figures!

                    • NINE others affected! Ha! I as previously pointed out, there was more to the Councillors' talking about plural's than we understood - obviously they would have preferred to have kept quite about the magnitude of their ineptness!

Edit - although given the appalling state of the email written it could have just been bad grammar!

Good luck with the new plot Tricky.

Thank you for your e-mail and am pleased to note you are a plot holder, and would confirm I have been a gardening since I was six years old, but we do not discuss individual matters appertaining to our plot holders. Sufficiant to say Mr Baxter has been placed at the top of the waiting list and will be offered the first plot which becomes available at the Wheatfields site.

hmm, i bet this was typed for him in a word doc or something, and he copied/pasted into the emails, the code doesn't always transfer when you do that, hence the crap paragraphing and spacing.

should learn to use spellcheck though.
