For a lot of odd but interesting things, (including this 'record player' that puts the music on the computer) look for "IWantOne Of Those.com" Great place for things which are daft, but fun, and occasionally something useful (but never essential).
For those who find reminders 'sad'. I remember the good times, without regret, they help me remember that good times keep coming round again. If I lost all my little 'sentimental value' treasures, the things I would miss would be those which belonged to my parents. I did lose a lot of those things (and most of my books, which upset me, because I love reading) in a fire. What remains is all the more precious, but life goes on, even if you lose what tells you about the past.

Madmax and I are always on the look-out for vinyl - preferably 7" size though I collect 78's and we do have a few albums. Anyone with old singles that are looking for a home where they will be appreciated can PM us and we will see what we can do.

We have a collection of jukeboxes, valve radios and a record player from the 1950's and listen to records more often than watching TV.

I use Magix and have put all my old vinyl on to computer and exported to CD. I can also do it with old tapes and have spent many a happy hour listening to old albums. We have also bought old records on Ebay and copied them to the computer.

There is a small stack of cr@ppy 80s soul albums (vinyl) upstairs in the linen cupboard. I've hidden them for a year ... if he doesn't ask for them by next Xmas, they're going on eBay
          * we don't have a record player, so he can't play them, and anyway he has them all on CD.

Me & the OH have both got piles of vinyl - albums, 12", 7", picture discs, shaped discs, coloured vinyl... There's no way I'd get rid of any of 'em, even though we don't have a tuntable at the moment either!
The suggestion of getting SD a turntable for Christmas is a good one

Just as an aside; if you love the OH, and he is emotionally/sentimentally attached to something, do you really feel you should talk 'em into getting rid of it? Isn't that a bit um... I dunno, like thinking your opinion is more important than theirs? I haven't looked at my wedding dress for a good few years, but any suggestion of getting rid of it would lead to a sore nose for the suggester... Just a thought....

Quite agree but you're much better at putting it than me

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have about 400 vinyl LPs, mostly rock music from the 60s & 70's Some of them are worth serious money now, though as with anything, you just try getting the listed price!

They are much nicer to handle and look at, as well as to listen to, than CDs I'm thinking of selling them though, after copying them, and using the money to fund a LEJOG trip when I retire (Land's End To John O'Groats)
