For the past 4 years we have hosted a bbq before going to a local firework display. It started off from the church youth group, and although that fizzled out when our vicar moved on, we have kept up the firework party. We have usually been able not only to bbq in the garden, but also sit out around the wood burner. My son has come home from uni for the weekend so as not to miss out.
It has been tipping down all day, I have 2 inches of water on the path, and we have decided the fireworks are a no go. I have lit the covered charcoal bbq and put 2 chickens on to cook slowly, I don't need to stand over them. My coat is on the radiator to dry, and I have my wellies by the back door to paddle up the garden in. OH reckons I am mad, but roast chicken doesn't seem the same. I might resort to the grill for burgers and sausages though. I phoned round everyone, and they all agree the fireworks are out, but are coming to eat anyway. Such a shame, as this is probably the last firework party as virtually all the young people will be away this time next year.
Anyone else bbq in bad weather or at strange times? I once barbequed the Christmas turkey, with OH holding the umbrella while I turned it! Now he stays inside and lets me get wet!
